Eating Wrong

Well..... I think I am screwing up..... I am 4 weeks post op and I am already eating solid foods.... I think it is a lack of communication between myself and my doctor.... I am honestly so sick of drinking...I want to chew food, and in doing so...I think I am pushing myself to much. I have no idea how long I am suppose to be on soft foods and I don't go back to the doctor until the 22nd. Did anyone else have this problem? How did ou handle this? Any help will be appreciated....I don't want to screw up....

Yes, I did. I did not puree any of my foods. I ate very soft foods that would almost melt in my mouth....sweet potatoes....eggs (scrambles with cheese and a little loose) and soups...a lot of soups. I made sure to chew anything I ate to the point there was almost nothing left. When i went to the doctor she told me that everyone is able to progress at different levels and as long as I was eating the right foods and not over eating, than I was fine. I also ate a TON of tuna fish with mayo. So much so I can barely stand to look at it after five months. LOL. Just don't push yourself too hard and you should be fine. You're pouch will let you know if you eat something you shouldn't...TRUST me on that one. :)

I am 2 weeks out and I am eating low fat/fat free refried beans, greek yogurt, canned green beans, and avacados. I specifically chose foods that were easy to eat and would cause me the least amount of disturbance to my stomach. I have had no problems. I was told that I would need to eat like this for the first 2 months. So perhaps you have the same timeline. I am sick of drinking water too. At least you are not alone! :o)

Just try and stick to softer foods during this time, nothing too crispy or well done meat that is overly firm.

Alot of people say crock pot meals are perfect for this stage of eating. Fish is also a good choice as it is so easy to digest. I enjoyed shrimp cocktail (still do) and ceviche, talapia and salmon, even sushi without the rice or nori.

Eggs are perfect and high protein, and also make sure you eat yogurt or cottage cheese with fruit for extra protein.

Good luck...you should be ok...just don't push your limits!!

My first two weeks I wasn't allowed anything that wouldn't go through a straw. You don't want a leak and watch the avocados, healthier fat but HIGH in fat. You are in a honeymoon stage, easy to lose and now is when you start making life choices....for the second two weeks I had 'soft food' which was adding scrambled egg and cottage cheese, as well as creamed soup....98% fat free. Skim milk counts towards your 'water intake' and I started and ended each day with a cup....plus you're getting protein. I could NOT get in that much water, even putting lemon in it, but my RN DID finally tell me that tea and even coffee could count as liquids. I told her I could NOT possibly drink that much water. She said water is THE BEST choice, but just DRINK and watch the color of your urine. I drink little water, only when I'm out to eat, but even at over 2 yrs out, I still watch the color in the potty!! :)

BTW, at week 3 I also had refried beans wtih a little 2% melted cheese and Greek yogurt....the PLAIN Greek yogurt is like sour cream but healthy and high in protein! Add about 2 TB to a can of beans just because! It was like heaven!!
