My Surgery

My surgery was 8/7/12 in MX with Dr. Garcia. The experience was surprisingly good. Dr. Garcia was wonderful. Samuel our driver was amazing and even took us sight seeing while we were waiting for my sisters late luggage. The staff @ Ready 4-a Change was great. I wish they would have had an interpreter though as some of the nurses couldn't speak English which @ night was a bit difficult. Also a expert lab person who could draw blood on anybody would have been great as my veins suck and I think they probabaly tried 15 times then they would explode and I would need a new I.V. Other than that my experience was good. So today I'm one week out and feeling awful really. Feeling like what did I do to myself? I know it will get better as time goes on I just have to stay strong today was just a bad day. I don't know if this feeling in my stomach is feeling full from my protein or I'm just adjusting. Any thoughts on this would be great as I could use some inspiration. On a good note I'm down 17 pounds since pre-op.

Hi there. I remember those feelings very well. I also went to TJ and had Dr. Garcia and thought "What have I done". I still wanted a cheeseburger 3 days post op!!!! It probably took a good 3 weeks to not feel weird when I ate anything and the whole diet for the first 3 weeks sucks anyway. It isn't until I started eating "normal" food that I started to get into a groove.

I am loving my sleeve now at 6 weeks out and have lost 38 pounds in total, so feel and look quite different already too!

Hang in there....it does get better....but it takes time and patience.

Just drink your protein shakes and give it some time.

I promise you will feel differently in a few short weeks and you will also be a lot lighter! :-)

Hi. I too was sleeved August 8 in the US. I feel awful too. My doc says everyday gets a little better. I repeat that over and over in my head when I'm feeling icky.

Hi, I was sleeved July 16th by dr. Garcia as well. I have gone through kind of a depression where I felt stupid for doing this and not just dieting because when you are on the liquid phase and you have to do it, you are dieting and you could have done that without surgery, at least those were the thoughts I was having. I still struggle, but I am 25 pounds lighter since surgery (I didn't do a preop diet) and have 102 pounds to go to my goal of 130. I have started a stall, but it seems like everyone hits one at 3 weeks so I am trying not to worry, but of course I am worried anyway because it has been like a week since I lost anything. But I try to think that next summer is going to be really great when I can wear shorts and enjoy the hot weather. I think you will be fine in a week or two.

I have thought about the 'if I can do this now...why do I need a sleeve' My answer is because once I lose it...I don't want to ever have to do it again. I think with a little effort and the sleeve, one more time will be all I need!
