Hi,

I'm the Geechee Girl and am 31 years old! Born and raised in Charleston, SC and now living in Charlotte, NC. I had my VSG on 7/31/12 weighing in at a whopping 277 lbs. What? No "yay" for me? Only kidding. I grew up playing sports and was always very lean. I would have never considered myself overweight. However, as I was unable to continue my athletics due to a lovely knee injury... I gained weight...a lot of weight... a ton of weight! I just never stopped eating like an athlete. I never thought this could happen to me. My main problem is that I LOVE FOOD!!! Isn't that why we are all here? I do not however like sweets; I think this surprises most people because when you weigh almost 300 lbs they think you won't turn anything down. Anyway, I am now on the road to Thinville and am looking for friends along the way. If you think you can be that for me... I will certainly be that for you. I hope you have a SMASHING day!

P.S. THINK THIN!!!!!! LOL

Hey there! When I was reading your entry my mouth fell open because it's my story too. I was always very active growing up and into my early twenty's. Then I got married, had back surgery, got divorced, moved to a new town and all that stress and emotional roller coaster, I gained A LOT of weight and it's just out of control. So, I have decided that surgery is the best route for me. I'm still at the pre-op phase of my journey and if everything goes right I should be having surgery sometime in October.

It's nice to know there is someone out there that I can relate to.

Good luck on your journey and keep up the good work!

Holly

Hey Holly, nice to meet you. I am glad there is someone else out there like me. I guess sometimes I feel bad because I know there are so many that have struggled with weight their whole lives. I know everyone has a story about why they are doing this, but mine seems to make me feel mostly lazy. It's like all the training I have put my body through during my younger years I forgot all about. I busted my knee up, but was not crippled. I could have done so many things; I just never thought I would gain weight like I did. And now that I am here, I am going to lose it! I have never wanted to be a rail. I am 5'9 and would look like Olive Oil. I just want to be healthy again and wear shorts without feeling like I would scare small children!

Hi Geechee Girl

I was just sleeved on july 9 and it is surprisingly going well,I suspect it will for you as well. I was re-couping from a failed lap band and was truly over having any sort of weight loss surgery, however my patient co-ordinator had a sleeve a few weeks before I had the lap band removal and thru discussions with her and others thought okay this is gonna be the last time. Well I am so happy I did it and cant begin to tell you. The simple fact is I just cant eat much period. So if you need support or have any question I could answer I am here.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
