Someday I am going to have a positive entry...lol

I have been having nausea for 2 weeks now, the past couple days has been 24/7. I also have this horrible taste in my mouth...YUCK!

So I called my LB dr (nurse) and she tells me she's pretty sure it's a gastric bug that has been going around, prescribes zofran and tells me to call back in a week if I am still feeling this way or if I vomit. After taking the zofran, no relief! The only thing I got from that was a big ol' headache. I call my family dr (nurse) and tell her what's going on and that I am kind of looking for a second opinion. She states that it probably is a bug and if it's anything lapband related they would just refer me back to the LB Dr because they don't mess with that! This is frustrating to me. My family doctor could do blood work, order xrays and what not....correct??? SO because I have a lapband I can't see him for anything stomach related??

All I know is I have four kids and a job and I cannot continue to function feeling like a big pile of pooooo!!!

anyone that ive talked to said to demand some tests, but how when I can't get past the nurse. I know it's thier job to be the go between but I feel like they are blocking me. just very sick...n frustrated! :(

I'm sorry this is happening =( It sounds super frustrating.

I can kind of sympathize with your family doctor. While they are your physician, they are not as specialized as your bariatric doctor is with the lapband. Since it's kind of a specialized thing, if I was a provider I would be hesitant to try and diagnose anything related to it. While it's frustrating, if it's lapband related, it's in the realm of a bariatric surgeon, not as much as a primary care physician. Even if they did decide to order tests from your PCP, if they thought it was any lapband related they would end up referring you back to your bariatric doctor.

If you are having nausea 24/7 and it's not getting better, call the bariatric clinic and tell them that you feel like you need to come in for a visit. Let them know you've been nauseous for weeks and it's getting worse. I'm not sure what the conversation went like the first time you called, but stress that you want to come in and see someone. The nurses are trained to do over the phone assessments, so she's not trying to block you, but she is try to make the most out of both your time and her time by saving you an office visit she doesn't seem to think you need. If you think you need tests done - insist on an office visit at your bariatric doctor. At the very least if the zofran isn't working ask them to prescribe you another medication for nausea - there are more than just one of them.

I hope you feel better. It sounds like it's been a crummy two weeks. It's gotta look up soon!

Thanks Izuri for your reply..I did email the drs office for a different RX, so we will see what the day brings.

Christine, anythings possible with this crapband...lol I vomit often from things getting stuck. Things are just so inconsistant with this thing. I don't have any reflux or pressure like in the past. However, I was thinking that the awful taste in my mouth and the "burning, churning" feeling in my stomach could be acid reflux??? I don't know but I hope I get some answers soon. I might be way off, but I almost feel like my LB dr is brushing things off because she knows I want the lapband taken out and revised to a sleeve....and I feel like maybe she thinks I am making issues up to move the process along, which is definatley not the case!!! Hopefully I can get some answers today :)
