Going Into My 6Th Week

Things are going pretty good. I am working out (still waiting for that 6 week cutoff so that I can weight lift) but I am doing everything else. It is amazing to learn how much I ate just because. It is easy to see especially when you are dining out. I see my friends eating and cleaning their plates and I am satisfied after a few bites. It feels really great. My friends are not as weirded out by the whole thing as I thought they would be which is good.

Today has been kind of different for me. I was craving something crunchy/salty and went to the dreaded vending machine. I knew that I shouldn't have but I was dying. I ate some baked Lays and I can't believe that I ate the entire bag. Who knew my pouch would allow me to. I do not feel bad physically, of course mentally I feel terrible but I know that it will pass.

Isn't baked lays a slider type of food, so you eat it, and it crunches and disintegrates and slides right on through, so it's not going to "fill you up".

Monday I was at 4 weeks and I'm still on full liquids and I am not allowed Pureeds yet. She said she will see me July 9th (my surgery was June 4th) and we'll discuss going to Pureed then. I will be on Pureeds for probably a few weeks before I am allowed soft then regulars.

She kept warning me about being careful because of leaks. I read so many people eating way before me and obviously my doctor and group is extremely conservative, but please just be careful with what you eat, just in case some of these conservative doctors are right.

True, now I just have to find some healthier salty snacks.

You shouldn't feel guilty...I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

Last week I was out with a friend who lovvvvves his chicken wings... Well, I'm still supposed to be on soft foods, but I couldn't resist. I took one chicken wing and de-boned it and removed the fat and chewed very, very, very thoroughly. (not easy to do by the way). It took about 1/2 an hour, but I managed to eat the whole wing and was satisfied. Go figure! Me, eating only 1 wing... That's one for the books. :)
