4 Weeks Out From Sleeve- Need Advice!

SamKing

Hi there! This is the first blog I am writing about me- Ive posted some responses to others, but would like some feedback. I am about 4 weeks out of the sleeve. I just started my mushy foods phase a week ago and have finally seen 8 pounds of weight loss. I am trying to get my energy back and am excited to finally feel more like me!

I wanted to know, for those of you who had the sleeve, how much weight did you guys lose in the first month, second, and third, what kind of meals were you making? I have been mushing fish and avacado together, taking about 2 small bites. Ive had cream of wheat, applesauce, sugar free pudding and jello.. soup(low sodium), cottage cheese, mini wheats cereal (2 squares) soaked in skim milk.. any other options out there?

I was feeling a little depressed because a lot of people who call to see how I am doing cant help but ask how much weight Ive lost. When I say 8 pounds, and its been 4 weeks, they are like.. oooh.. well how much are you going to lose?

It is a little annoying and got me down at first, but Im trying to stay positive. Has anyone else had this feeling of wanting to tell people to be a bit more sensitive?!

Some people just make comments because they don't know what to think, or some can be rude, others are overly concerned.

Everyone loses at a different rate and there are so many factors! I have been slowly but steadily losing since my pre-op days and of course after surgery but when I really look at myself, I know that I am thinner than I have been in decades, and I am gettting there and I am committed.

You will be just fine girlfriend...watch those pounds go!!

I am so excited to hear your story...I was sleeved on 5/29 and have only lost a total of 10 lbs (3 pre op, 7 post op). I feel like I'm one of the slowest losers on here. Do you have a low BMI? I started at 248 and am now 238 which isn't that low so I figured I'd lose faster. I was right at 200 my entire adult life but after I had my 2nd child, my weight skyrocked for no real reason..I gained 40 lbs in 1 month right after her birth!. I think it must be related to hormones or something...which would explain my incredibly slow weight loss even when I'm only eating 800 calories/day? Anyway, I'm hoping I keep losing!

Good luck to everyone! Don't think in terms of how much weight but think about how you look and how you feel. Trust me your doctors will let you know if you are losing too slowly.

My family hasn't asked me that question...yet...I was discouraged after seeing people who had their procedure the same day as me and a week out losing 13 pounds and me, 1 week post op I gained 1 pound, it took my aunt to give me perspective. I know once my family start actually seeing me lose weight, they will start asking....

There are so many factors to consider with it comes to weight loss....my cousin who got the Lapband (after I begged her not to) told me, think about it like this, that one or two or 10 pounds you've lost you will not see again, so when someone say, aww, that's it, just say, well I know I will never see those pounds again!

Bam come back!

I'm 1 month out today and have lost 16 lbs. I did not lose any during week 2 & 3, but then it started coming off again. I've had to quit checking the scale everyday because I get upset when the number goes up and down. The best thing so far is that my clothes are fitting better and I even wore a shirt I couldn't a month ago. We are all so different, so our time frame for losing weight may not match other's, but we will lose it and it's going to be great! Other food ideas: Eggs go down easy for me. Take 1 slice thin lunch meat, spread guacamole or fat free cream cheese then roll it up, perfect portion. Also 1.5 oz of salad baby shrimp, add cocktail sauce & a bit of cream cheese, blend together and it's good protein, soft to chew and get down. Other than that my list is the same as yours. I started walking last week and that has actually helped me feel better. We'll work on being positive together!
