I have quite a few piercings, some you can see and some that are let's just say.............................I am very fond of them*lol* :P. Is it true that I have to take them ALL out for my surgery? I heard that I can put retainers, but don't know if that is true or not, please advise.

I am replying unofficially because I don't know, but I would guess you should take them all out just in case but remember the procedure only lasts a couple of hours at most. I can't imagine there being any reason you can't put them back in after you wake up.

Unless they are brand new piercings, they shouldn't close up any by the time you're awake and able to put them in (or have someone help you..). Sometimes I take my lip ring out for a number of days and it won't close up, but I've had it for 12 years.

It depends on the doctor but when i had my gallbladder out i had a ton of piercings (15 in my ears, nose, navel, tongue and a fun one). I took all the ones out but one in my ears, put a clear plastic retainer in the nose and took out the tongue, fun one and navel out. I remember they said i couldnt keep the tongue ring in even with a retainer because of the tube they put down your throat and you shouldnt have anything metal on you. If you have anything like nipples or navel i wouldnt think you'd be able to keep clear plastic retainers in there but the nose should be ok. Id ask. I did end up losing a few piercings from the gallbladder surgery (navel since they take it out there there) and one in my ears. I havent been sleeved yet but i would ask your surgeon! :)

Thank you ladies. If I have to take them out then so be it, and I have had them all for over 5 years, so they shouldn't close. Discordya you are right, I can have someone help me put them back in.
