I Hate Food.

CrazyCatLady

Yes, I said it...I hate food. All of it.

It's 2:30p, and I haven't had anything to eat today - because the thought of putting anything in my mouth is totally repugnant. I have no interest. I tried eating a piece of chicken this morning: chewed it up and then spit it out, because I knew if I tried to swallow it, I'd gag on it.

I can't believe the change from 2 months ago, where I ate all day long. It is mindblowing.

I suppose it doesn't help that my weight loss is somewhere between a "crawl" and "non-existent" these last handful of days. Logically I know I have to eat - I just have no desire. None.

Wonder when/if this will change.

I know it's really hard, but to get your metabolic rate to speed up, you really need to take in some calories. Look at food as energy for your body to help you function more normally. ;)

If you can't eat I hope you can at least get some protein shakes in whether it's Isopure or Shakes. I hope you can get in to see a doctor somewhere, you seem to have had a nightmare of a time and I just pray something works for you soon, because you can't keep going this way. Something has to give.

My best wishes that something falls into place and you and your sleeve can start working together to get you into a healthier body & frame of mind.

I feel the same way... I was sleeved on May 1st and it seems everytime I do try to eat it does not settle well including water. But for some reason my blended with ice protein shake goes down well. So for now that's what I am sticking with.

Onikatn, stick with what is going for you. I will be on clear liquids 2 weeks, then 4-5 weeks of full liquid, then I move to mushy, then soft, then regular.

This is to slowly reintroduce food into the system. I have met with people that are through my group and surgeons office and truthfully they don't seem to have these types of problems because they didn't start food so early. We're suppose to only try one new food at a time, that's it.

There's nothing wrong with easing your way into food, and in the long run it's healthier. Good luck to you too.

This will probably go against everything our surgeons and NUTs tell us, but my Psychiatrist told me that when our bodies are really lagging, carbs are beneficial. She was VERY clear that this doesn't mean donuts or fried foods, but a little baked potato with Molly McButter or some fat free refried beans with a little bit of cheese. She is a D.O. and she reviewed my recommendations. She agreed with everything, but continued to point out that our brains need energy to process information and that energy comes from carbs. She also recommended fruit juice popcicles at 35 cal ea. I started to add a little more carbs in my diet and now I feel better. Don't be afraid of the word CARB--it doesn't mean what it used to to us now. :)

I'm struggling with food intake too. I even already experienced dumping yesterday after a protein shake. Sucked, made me nervous to put anything in my mouth again. That was supposed to be the safe choice. Last night I was feeling weak and decided to try some thin cream of wheat made with milk, it went down well and today I skipped the protein drink an ate a half of an egg mushed with a tsp of cheese and it went down well. Seems each day is different with a new challenge to face or experience to learn. Hang in there CCLady, I hope you find what works for you. I'm sending up positive energy for you today.

lizzyshade some protein shakes have lots of carbs or sugar try the light type.

Crazycatlady there must be some foods you use to enjoy while dieting that you can enjoy now. I couldn't eat meat for first 2 mo. it just didn't settle well. The weight loss will improve if you can find a few things you enjoy and just eat them for now until you feel better. Good luck!
