Day Six And I Am Having A Hard Time Getting In Protein..any Suggestions?

Today is day 6 and I went back on my liquid diet. I am having a rough time getting down protein. I wonder at what week I will be able to successfully get in all my protein?

I'm in my third week and protein is a struggle every day for me! The only way I can get it in is to drink protein shakes. I think as time goes by and we can eat more the protein will be easier to get. I know there are a lot of people who are years out and still drink protein shakes to get in their protein. Just go at your own pace.

Hi Joni,

I tried something and it worked! I have a liquid protein shake and I added a scoop of whey protein (26g of protein). Between the 5oz of shake and the one scoop, I am getting 34 proteins. I could not drink it all, but will sip on it until it is gone. Then at supper I will do that again. That will put me Over 60 gms a day! For now, while I am struggling to get 4oz at a time down, this may be my plan. Not sure how I will get all the water in though. I guess I will sip it when not sipping the protein cocktail LOL!

the first few weeks are the hardest. Try this: the first 15 minutes of every hour, drink one ounce of a protein shake that has at least 32 gms of protein. Either from a powder or ready to drink (Oh yeah, Isopure Smoothies are 2 of my favorites). The rest of the time you can try adding some BeneProtein powder, or Unjury unflavored protein powder to cream soups or lower protein shakes. here's one of my recipes: 1 scoop protein powder in blender with 4 oz plain Greek yogurt and enough ice cubes to make it a smoothie, puree in the blender. You can also make high protein sugar free pudding by adding a scoop of protein powder to your cold skim milk, mix well, then add to your sugar free pudding. (gives you protein in every bite!)

right after my WLS - my NUT told me to get as much protein in as possible w/shakes. My NUT then told me that its very difficult to get in so much protein at such an early stage. i was even told not to dwell on the protein, but drink, drink as much as you can, ie H20. most important to stay hydrated. the protein will come in time, soon, but concentrate right now on drinking many fluids. also popsicle are great, counting as a liquid. keep up the good work - everything will come together, and your wonderful journey will continue

I found that the protein shakes are the way to go. I freeze 1/2 of my skim milk & like the Unjury products. Tonight I will try the unflavored protein powder. The chocolate pudding sounds great.

GNC sells Lean Shake. It's 14oz and has 25 grams of protein. I really like it as it doesn't taste like protein. The only issue, is it can be expensive. But for me, who hates Whey, it's so worth it. Best of luck. Also I have a smoothy that I love with 25g of protein.

1 cup greek yogurt

1/2 cup soy milk (vanilla)

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

4-7 ice cubes.

Splenda or sugar substitute to taste. I do 2-3.
