4 Days Out And Feeling Guilty

So I am 4 days post op and I am feeling really guilty. I keep reading all these posts from people who are losing mass amounts of weight and I feel like I should be out there running marathons and exercising to the point of exhaustion. I walked around the block once tonight with my husband and we did it fairly quickly and thought that was an accomplishment but now im not feeling that way at all. I have been adhering to my liquid diet and I guess im just worried that I will not lose weight like everyone else is doing. Am I the only one who feels this way or am I alone in this boat? I want to be successful at this since I went through the surgery and made a conscious effort to change my life. I just dont think I can dedicate as much time as some people do to working out. I have 6 children that keep me busy as it is. Sigh. I feel like im just being lazy and it's making me feel very bad about myself.

I think when you start loosing you will feel like walking more. I am only 10 days out and today was the first day that I walked any "real" distance. Any kind of exercise helps. You can park further away at the grocery store, walk around the block with your kids, etc. I am not a huge exercise fan either.

You might try getting the Leslie Sansone Walk away the Pounds DVD's (cheap at Walmart). The one mile work out is only 15 minutes.

Believe me...you will lose weight. I'm at the point now that people are telling me "enough already"....you will lose. Take it easy...don't stress, follow your doc's advice. Enjoy!

If you have 6 children to look after, I am certain you get more exercise than you imagine.

I am pre-surgery and tracking my calories and movement with a fitbit (pedometer that downloads to the computer). I consume 1100-1600 calories and get 1-3 miles per day of movement in normal activity. I gain and lose the same two pounds week after week, even though 'myfitnesspal' tells me I should lose several pounds over the next month.

Don't beat yourself up, your body is recovering from trauma, and our bodies don't all work the same. You are going to be amazing at this!

OMG - give yourself a break - at 4 days many, many people are still recuperating. walking very slowly, sipping water - this is what many newbies do. For you to walk around the block - thats probably ok, but don't overdue it. No marathons, you are recovering from MAJOR surgery. Give yourelf sometime - and you will be there with the other losers, but you'll be a winner.

All I could manage was a short walk up and down the block for the first two weeks. Give yourself a break, you're doing fine and you WILL lose!

My surgery was on March 28th and I am not exercising. I have gone for a few 10 minute slow walks and I have also overdone it by going shopping. The pain isn't worth over doing it

...we are still recovering; take it slow and all the good will follow!

Only piece of advice that i can give you is......... DO YOU ....... don't DO anybody else... what we all have in common is that we recognized that we needed to lose weight and did something about it. That's where, in my opinion, is where the commonality ends... EXCEPt .. we all want to cross the finish line, whether that's to lose weight or to get off medication.

Everyone's road is different, all paths are not the same.. So try not to compare yourself to someone else's success. Give people an "atta boy", mean it.. and wish them well. That's what we are here on these boards to do encourage each other when we feel discouraged, listen, when folks just want to vent.. offer advice when it's warrented...

Do you! You WILL lose weight, you WILL feel great... and you WILL succeed.. even if this takes longer than other people. I know this sounds so cliche(ish) but.. we all know that the tortise wins the race!

I am 6 weeks post and have lost 15 lbs with minimum exercise my insision was not healing. You will lose the weight. If excercise alone would have worked you would not have needed the surgery. It is not a quick fix.

Hey sister~ I have 2 kids left at home and they run me ragged...I can only imagine having 6 ...yikes kudos for you!!!

At 4 days post opt I was walking short jaunts and counting the steps to home...LOL You will bounce right back because by day 10 I was going to the movies, attending the county fair in Imperial California, and later by 19 days I started water arobics. This was the best thing for me as you are boyant in the water, your knees and back don't complain and you get a good work out! This is something I could never do on land with the weight impacting on my joints being so heavy.

You need to stay away from the scale for a time, then when you do hop on the little bugger it will tell you, you weigh less...the numbers will start to fall.

Keep in mind your body will go thru stalls, you just gotta work thru them, mine was at about 3 weeks I had a bout 4 days where I did not even lose 1 ounce.....grrr

DO IT FOR YOU!!! everyones metabolism is different...are you keeping a food calorie/carb/protein diary? If not try it, it really helps me be honest to the program I have set forth.
