Depressed. When It Will Get Better?

This is just my own personal experience till date.I just need to express how I feel and speak up my mind.

Almost 4 weeks post op and I feel depressed, down and lonely.

I am becoming so emotional and tearful. Small things make me crying. I am not catching up with our friends as before cause I feel like staying alone.

Stalled at 2 weeks and hasn’t lost any since. It is like I need this on top.

I did the surgery to lose weight and feel healthy but I feel weak, dizzy and always hungry. After few failed IVF, I am hoping this surgery will help but scared to death it wont make any difference.

I have back pain since surgery and it is not going away. It is causing lots of pain especially when I am laid down on my back or sitting long.

My scares still hurting and I can feel some tightness in my sleeve. Not knowing if it is something I should worry about or it is normal.

My husband is supportive but will never understand what I am going through.

Praying things will get better soon.

I am so sorry you are hurting. Please know that you are never alone, for we are all one. This community is incredibly supportive and many walk a similar path, with similar hopes and dreams for the future. Hormones are clearly affected in this process, so forgive yourself for being emotional - you are in the process of changing your life and creating your future. Try to consume your required protein and water, for I've read that really helps, and if you can, get outside and take a walk. Start slow and short, and go further each day. That should help work out and release the pain that is trapped in your body, which has been through a bit of trauma recently. This will get better and you will be able to share your experience with those (like me) coming up this path behind you. Wishing you WELL!

I am sorry that you are feeling this way. Is very common to have depression after a major surgery. I felt a little down around that time that you are now post op.

You are going to feel better with the days, time heals. And you will start seeing that getting sleeved was the best decision you ever made for your self, for your family, for your life. You still have time to recover. Your stomach still sore. Tomorrow is a new day :) Be positive and stay strong!, Things will get better! Hug

If you are always dizzy and weak, I fear you are not getting enough protein. Is there a way you can get a test to be sure you do not have a leak or anything bad. The back pain does not sound normal.

As far as not losing weight right now, I am 5 1/2 weeks out and have been in a stall for 2 1/2 weeks now, but can feel myself shrinking. I know the loss is coming soon. It's a process your body is going through and you have to be patient with it.

Take care of your health and don't worry about the loss. It will happen. It IS a very emotional time, and many people go through some emotional changes. There are lots of hormones being released back into your system and little things WILL make you cry. That part is normal. Hopefully soon all these unpleasant things will be a distant memory. Praying for you dear. :)

I'm 3 weeks post op, and have been crying every single day for a week. Everything makes me cry, everything makes me grouchy....it's like constant PMS! I haven't lost any weight in about 5 days now, and I'm frustrated as well. However, I'm down 31 lbs, so SOMETHING has got to be working. My poor boyfriend, and my kids don't have a clue what to do with me...they try being supportive, but I'm just SO emotional! What to do? I've been going to the gym to bike about 3 days out of the week, and sometimes it helps, and other times, not so much. Keep your chin up, you're not alone.

I am a OR nurse so I have a little experience in post op problems. First and foremost is just because this was done with out a large incision, this was still major surgery. ALL MAJOR PROCEDURES TAKE TIME.....Four weeks out is still very much in the recuperating stage. As so many have said, stalls are not uncommon. I too had a little depression afterwards when I would think that what I have done is for ever, that all does go away. I am 5 mos. out and eat what ever I want (of course that amounts to about 3 bites at a setting). But the thing is at this point I don't feel like I am on a diet. I have lost 65 lbs. and now am losing about 2-3 lbs. a week. Try to get the majority of your protein in so you feel good and then my advise is do not deprive yourself if you want something. Remember no matter what you grave it will only be a bite or two so enjoy it in moderation. Good luck, believe me this will all even out. Of course if physical symptoms continue and get worse get medical help.

I however am different, I was happy with my surgery and I just had my 1yr anniversary and hit major depression.. you just can't imagine how sad I am. I call off of work alot lately, i just don't want to go out and deal with life..... but tomorrow i have an appt with my dr to help me with this depression. I hate to feel so sad, if you are that sad like I am.. please see someone, because it does hurt :(

I will be starting this Sunday solid food so hoping to feel much better. I sat by the pool today and enjoyed the weather with some friends, that helped my mood alot. Wishing all the best and praying for the day where I can say sleeve is the best decision :)
