Home- The Aftermath....

Dr.Vincent Polite LCMFT

My surgery took place on March 16, 2012 in Celebration Florida and was done by Dr. Keith Kim, a very good surgeon in this field. I have done research for about 4 years on the subject and talked with countless people about the surgery and those who have had the procedure done. The most surprising thing that I learned was that most people view WLS as a negative cheating way to lose weight, but the majority with that viewpoint were often uninformed or just ignorant to the whole weight loss process. As I sit here 3 days post-op and can feel my body returning to the size it was meant to be I can say that much of my concern is not centered on getting in shape. As a former Army recon scout I was really ashamed of how I let myself become out of shape and lacked the self discipline to eat right and stay in shape but I vowed to not be over 50 and fat……. And so begins my first steps.

Congrats! I too notice the negative point of view toward WLS, and I will admit to thinking like that at one time, until I started doing my own research, and I learned that the pov that wls was the "easy way" out was is a HUGE misconception!

I also had my surgery on March 16th in Miami, by Dr. Jacobs, another incredible surgeon. Have lost 4 lbs already but having major constipation (guess because we are not really eating much). I am super excited to be on this journey and family and friends who were a bit skepticle, are starting to understand that this is only "a tool" and that it will take focus and dedication to loose this weight. We got this!! :)

I'm having that same issue but I'm only "eating" lowfat yogurt so that's expected. My problem is dealing with contractions that feel like hunger pangs but i know that im not hungry

Good luck on your journey. I was having what I thought was hunger pangs once I returned to work they went away, to busy to think about them.

Good for you. People dont understand. I hate when my little friends say all you have to do is stop eating. Wow never thought about that. I guess the hardest thing is saying I am not perfect, It isn't easy. Believe me alot of us are with you. This world is hard on large people, because they see us as imperfect. I am more perfect them, but not perfect. Good luck

I hear ya there... I had 3 shrimp and 3 dime size pieces of chicken when we went out to eat the other night and my husband says "you really made a pig outta yourself tonight" How thoughtful....I really wish he would do some research on his own! Hello people who do not have weight issues do not have a clue...He always tells my 12 yr old that he is growing his (my son's) belly.... I hate that...Who wants to have a big belly....grrrr
