Week 11-- Sooo Bummed Right Now. But Tryin To Keep My Head Up

Ok I normally try and be really positive on my blogs cuz everyone has there ups and downs but the key is to keep pushin on, but this week has literally got me down.

 

And let me start off by sayin im not upset that I only lost 1 lb this week, im upset because i am now on a slight bed rest. I have been working out a lot because I am training for the tough mudder, and i have been pushing myself. But I know how to work out so its not like im hurting myself because of my work out. Ok i have to give a little back ground.

 

In my 28 years of existence i have probably been in about 12 car accidents. the last one was pretty bad, and now i have 3 herniated discs in my low back. and one of them is pressing against my ciatic nerve. normally it doesn't hurt bad, but at times like this when it gets inflammed it almost paralyzes me from the waist down. I can't bend or move much without this really excruciating pain. Well im at that point right now, and unfortunately my health insurance ran out from my last job at the end of last month, so im kinda screwed.

 

anyways, all i wanna do is be able to go running or workout, and i feel like im stuck in this damn if i do damn if i don't state!

 

well hopefully this pain subsides soon so that i can get back to losing weight.. I didn't do any pictures this week, because i didnt lose anything, lets hope next week is better!

My week is really strange also. My father in-law who is 92 years old fell and hit his head and fractured the back of his skull. It was also my birthday and anniversary. Spent them in the hospital with him and family. That was nice i was able to see family I haven't seen in ages.

But, I haven't been very good with my diet. I've been eating some candy here and there. Had times when I felt like I was deprived of food and ate stuff I shouldn't have. I find my head looking for things to eat and my stomach isn't hungry. I need to go back on the basic bootcamp diet starting tomorrow. Yep, that's what I'm going to do.

Sorry I got off on a tangen. Since you have injuries from previous accidents, then it's time to take better care of your wonderful body. It's ok to take a little time off to heal, your get farther in the long run. I love your ambition of the tough mudder competition! That's determination in the process. But slow down enjoy your down time and get back on track when the pain has subsided. ;)

I'm really sorry to hear about that! My dad had a pinched nerve and he would grab a pull up bar and let his body hang so that the weight would realign his back. Would that sort of thing help you? Do you have a GP who might be willing to prescribe you something without having to go in to see him/her? Have you tried something like Biofreeze or Asics gel to help with the inflammation? That stuff is amazing.

Hope you feel better soon! Oh, and I can't wait to do tough mudder too! It's my biggest after surgery goal. Keep us posted about it as I'm really curious! Have you seen their website with that guy's training regime? Woh!

I am so sorry to hear of your pain and I can relate so much. I am seven weeks out and haven’t started to do any exercise due to the hernia repair and the six weeks hold my DR put me on so that the hernia could heal. I have DDD in my L3L4L5 S1 and have been dealing with this for over16 years. I just had my third codal block today. I so want to start exercising but am also scared that I may hurt myself. I have lost 25 pounds and to some this is not that much however I am ok with it. I know I am going to have to start doing something and cycling in what I did two years ago before my knees got the best of me. I had the surgery so that I could manage my pain by loosing the weight and being active however I to feel stuck and I have just begun. I can just say keep the faith and one day at a time for us both. just wanted to say thank you for the kind words of support! i have actually been resting for the past 4 days now.. not one lick of a work out..lol its been tough, but i know my body really needs the rest.

Dorrie im sorry to hear about the family troubles.. makes mine seem really insignificant..lol i know i just need to not complain cuz i guess it can always be worse right?! however im glad that you got to see family.

so far i have tried motrin, heating and icing, and salonpas patches.. it helps a little, but unfortunately the one thing that would help which is my epidural injections i can't get until i have my insurance back. so hopefully it will just correct itself in time.

jennifer, that is where all my issues are to L3-4-5 its not fun i can say that much.. and i know that you can't work out right now, but have you tried the swimming pool.. that might be something to do until you can really start working out. it would at least give you resistance training and help tone muscles as well as speed up weight loss in a low impact environment.

anyways, hope you ladies have a good week. and i will keep you posted on my recovery, cuz i really wanna get back into the swing of things.
