What The Heck Is Going On? I Want To Eat Everything In Sight...

Ok I heard of the munchies but this is nuts... i want to eat everything in sight all of the sudden. Anyone gone thru this phase before? HELPPPPPPPPP

I'm in the same boat. Hungry, hungry, hungry.

I was sleeved 1-25-12 and am still on my liquid diet. However, I have been eating chips at night before bed for the past three nights. I hate how hungry I am. I hate the head hunger. I hate reverting back to my old eating patterns less that 4 weeks out.

are you feeling physically hungry or are you just craving everything?

and it might be a bit early to be eating chips, especially if you're supposed to still be liquid :( would hate for you to have a complication!

How far out are you? Has anything changed to bring this on? I have gone through stages where I've been more hungry than usual. I have to be very careful about sugar. I try never to eat or drink anything with more than 4 grams of sugar in it. That can mess me up. Most of the time, things go well but recently I found myself getting hungrier than usual. It was starting to worry me actually! It seemed like all of a sudden I was hungry again! I did some research on these boards and several people suggested taking an antacid like prilosec or tums. They said that your body can sometimes overproduce acid and it mimics hunger. I had never heard this before and bingo! I tried taking 2 tums the next time I felt this way and it worked. I really would suggest it.

Also, If you are eating chips which is not a good idea at the stage your in, they are most likely full of carbs, which in turn is one of the biggest triggers for hunger. I am also two weeks out but have that fear in me of that happening so I would not even attempt one, not that I wouldn't lovvvvvvvve to! You can do this, just realized where your at. Only you know what feels right or not. You might have a day or two of discomfort getting back to where you need to be but you can do this. Think of it like you feel hungry now eating that stuff, why not detox yourself all over so you don't. Were so early out and our tool is waiting for us to properly use it. Thank God it's at the beginning b/c I hear after several months of the "honeymoon stage" weight loss slows down.

We've all been there. If your really physically hungry increase your protein and drink more. I find if I'm sipping something I like to drink i'm not hungry. if your emotionally "head hungry" then get rid of the carb chips, and find snacks low or with zero carbs. might not be the best thing but I eat porkrinds. They are a great crunch and zero carbs. I sometimes dip them in cream cheese, or dip made from greek yogart, or laughing cow cheese. Head hungry is hard to manage if you don't recognize it and try to change the habits. Good luck!!

I am 2 years out and I have gained about 20 pounds.... I am totally sabotaging all of my efforts! I need encouragement and help... I had lost a total of about 80 lbs. now I am to 60...... ugh!!!! I know it is carbs..... I have head hunger horribly!!!!!

Its odd to me that all of the sudden these hunger pains have come back. I guess we do seem to do the same old thing and revert back to our old ways. I spoke with my doctor today and she advised me to increase the protein intake. Also, I am not drining the full 60oz as advised. So for me...its back to relearning that I cannot go back to the old ways of eating and thinking of food as my comfort, Thanks for all the imput my friends.

LAnn, according to the manual my coordinator gave me you should be eating regular by now and liquids. Allow me to explain was given to me. for the first week following the sleeve procedure yo are to be on liquids and by week 2 you are continue by incorporating soupy hot cereals, soupy or thin mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes without skin, cottage cheese, saltine crackers. by weeks 3-5 start a soft diet and slowly introduce solid foods into your diet. start with soft to chew foods and progress to foods in your regular diet like meat, fruits, and veggies. some foods you may find that your body is unable to tolerate. for me I can no longereat grits or egg salad as these foods make me feel sick on the stomach. If need be speak with your doctor and he or she will give you further direction, but please don't revert back as you have made the decision to have the surgery which is a great start and a great gift. i am pulling for you and wish you well.
