Tough Days

The last couple of days have been tough. Yesterday I was sorta hungry but in looking back on my intake, I was right where I was supposed to be. I had my vitamins and fluids too. Normally, I get home and have so many things to do, running around with my two boys that I don't have time to be bored but the schedule has been good this week, therefore I have had some down time.

Well, I was bored. TV doesn't interest me much. There are only a couple of programs I care to watch. I was too tired/lazy to work out so I sat there with my thoughts. I have that problem somtimes, I am bored stiff but to lazy to do anything about it. That was yesterday. Ultimately, I ended up reading for several hours.

Although I slept well, I still feel tired. Now I feel bored at work instead of bored at home. One of my big motivations for surgery was to lose the weight and find that source of energy inside. I'm down 36 pounds in five weeks and I do feel better but I am not yet seeing an increase in energy.

Let me know if you find my motivation some where, because I seem to have misplaced mine. LOL

I have good days and bad days. I like to push it to the limit when I work out and I'm only 1 month out. If I push it a couple days in a row, that third day I'm exhausted. I went to bed one night this week at 6pm. My body needed the rest. I don't know if B-Vitamins are in your regime, but they really do help me with energy. I probably take 500-2000 mg throughout the day. You don't say what you're eating, but I eat mostly protein and that seems to sustain me/give me enough energy for my workouts of cardio/strength training. I hope this helps!

My food and vitamins have been right on. I work toward getting 80g of protien a day. Sometimes I fall short of that but nothing less than 60g. I also take sublingual B12 4 times a week. Getting about 2000mg a week which I think is the recommended amount.

I think my problem is more mental than physical. I've been taking depression meds for about six years now and it seems to go in cycles, this is probably one of the lows that come around once in a while.

I'm gonna hit the treadmill tonight when I get home no matter how I feel and see if that can shake this funk. Thanks for the advice.

Take care!

I feel your pain. i too find myself doing a whole lot of nothing sometimes which was apart of my problem before surgery. i find that keeping myself busy keeps my mind off some of the negative things. i have made the commitment to myself to remove some of the negative influences in my life. I also find myself listening to a lot more music to keep my mind stimulated. we all are going to have good and bad days. the good thing is that my psychiatrist stated that most people in our situation have " situational depression" . Which means that as we lose weight we will naturally start to feel better mentally. i didnt get my energy back until about 1.5 months post op.

Music does it for me too. I don't know why but it does give me energy. Maybe as you mentioned, it keeps the brain stimulated. I have plenty to do at home and around the house. TV doesn't do it for me but I'm just not motivated to do those things. Probably part procrastination too.

I understand entirely. I found that my motivation comes when I am like Nike...Just do it! Once I get to moving, I feel those endorphins, and I can't stop! I love seeing what the WiiFit thinks my Fitness Age is and it makes me want to move even more.

I now look at exercise as my new medication presciption to a longer healthier life. I know that I have to take this medication at least 5x per week for optimum health. I also realize that if I don't take it, I will not lose/maintain my weight and my surgery will be for nothing. I did it to get healthy and daily exercise is a part of that. I always try to do something different, not the same boring treadmill walk. I will walk outside with my handweights, walk up and down hills and do interval training when I walk. Like others said I will also walk with my ipod and pump up my music for motivation it helps time fly by.

A body in motion tends to stay in motion, while a body at rest tends to stay at rest. Get up and get motivated! You can do it! I just started back working out 3 days ago and I know if I sit down when I get home before working out, I'm done and it won't happen. First thing when I get home, I hop on the elipical and knock it out. I know if sounds crazy, but when you work out, you have more natural energy. My doc told me I would not live to see 40 if I did not turn my life around, so I had some good motivation seeing as I am only 28. After a few days, it gets to where you want to exercise because you start feeling better and begin to like "the burn" it gives you. I will help encourage you in any way I can!
