Thanks to all for your responses! I really appreciate all the help. I did have the GI clearance (Barium swallow) at the consultation. They did it right there. I also had a cardiac clearance from my cardiologist, so those are out of the way.

My insurance is requiring a 90 day wait which is frustrating

Use the next 90 days to condition your mind and body to get used to the change that's about to take place. Start a mild exercise regimen. Begin taking vitamins if you don't already. Start eating with smaller utensils and smaller plates. Try not to eat and drink at the same time, and continue to scour through the posts on VST for any questions about this procedure and what life is like after being sleeved. Read the good and bad posts...It's a BIG life change and preparing for it before it comes will make the transition much easier for you.

Wishing you the best of luck!

I am right with you. I have been for the consulation and did the Barium Swallow. Also got cleared by my cardiologist to go off my coumadin and use Lovanox when I am preparing for Surgery. My insurance won't cover it so the Doc says. I am going to contact them to see if I have special circumstances that would allow it. If not, I have to come up with financing. I have started exercising daily (just cardio) as well as eating healthy (High protein, high fiber, low fat, low sugar, and low carbs). I have been reading about how you cannot eat and drink at the same time which is something I will have to work hard at (I am drinking water all day every day!). Hope we can motivate each other.

What are you on the Coumadin for? I've been on Aggrenox since I had a stroke 7 years ago. It's like Plavix with 25mg of aspirin added to it. I had to get, along with the cardiac clearance, a letter from my cardiologist saying I can come off the drug safely for 2 weeks prior to surgery and 1 week following the procedure. I think that's my biggest fear, along with general anesthesia. I'm certain we can motivate each other. I'm waiting until after the Super Bowl to begin exercising, I figure one final day of eating what I want before I get serious. At least for me, I really don't have an unhealthy diet to begin with, I just tend to eat too much and I kinda binge @ night....really hoping that stops!

Stay in touch~
