Hi everyone,

So Wednesday will be officialy a month since I had my VSG...I have only lost about 16lbs...I know it's a lot but i'd say most of that weight was lost in the first two weeks. For the past two weeks I just dont see any lose at all...my scale goes up and down but pretty much stays the same. Im tired and i feel icky most of the time, Im walking and trying to be active because I can totaly see myself getting depressed. I'v been told this is normal, but i don't think hearing that is helping at this point. I guess Im scared I'll be the first person I know that has this done and doesn't actually loose the weight...i'm still having a hard time getting in my fluid and Im only getting in about 35-45 g of protien a day...I burp so much when i eat or drink that it's making me not want to do either...im taking the pepcid and vitamins and now fiber chewables but it's not making a difference with my burping...I know ppl who went back to work after two weeks, i couldn't imagin going through al this and have to work a full day...im going to water arobics tonight hoping that will boost my mood...anyone else out there feeling the same way?

Do you use straws when drinking? I tried using a water bottle that had a straw and it made me burp way too much! I had my VSG done on October 24, 2011 and am down 56lbs so far. I lost a ton my first month, but once I started eating and working out, it seemed to slow down. Just stick with the rules and you will eventually see results! Working out is a huge part of it though! I didn't think I could go back to work after 2 weeks and barely being able to eat, but I was able to do it and I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse. You might need to eat more often if you are unable to get enough in at one time....I usually eat every couple hours, but small portions. As far as your mood, that is a hard one to deal with. I struggled with ups and downs emotionally, and all I can say is find someone to talk to about it. Find someone you can be 100% honest with about how you are feeling and who will support you. For me, the emotional part of my journey has been the hardest for me. There are days when I feel depressed, but then I just remember that I am doing something awesome for me health, but I have to put in the work. So I get up and do it. No one said it was going to be easy, but they said it would be worth it. Good luck on your journey!

I would say that you need to increase your protein levels to at least 70-80 grams of protein a day. 30-40 grams is pretty low for protein intake. how much water are you getting down ? i am 2 months out and my goal is at least 90 oz a day. Stay positive.

If your still feeling sluggish and tired, please talk to your DR. Have you started your vitimans? B-12 and calcium etc? Those are important to getting you back to health. I find the burping is more when I eat too fast. Slow down and chew, chew, chew. I'd also agree, getting in that protein from food sources will help as well. Needless to say, you must increase your protein intake

As for the depression. Maybe you were expecting to lose a lot of weight really fast. I know I was and had some depression and frustration. However, even though I'm down 23 pounds in 2 months.. that's more than I've been able to do in the past so I'm happy. Its a marathon not a sprint. Concentrate on getting in the protein with foods you enjoy, meat, fish, eggs, yogurt, cheese. I drink kellogs Protein water.. It has 5g protein, but adds to the water consumption as well.

Hang in there. Know you'll get better

Thanks for all of your support. It realy does help to come to this site and hear what everyone else has to say knowing they have been through it...The burping continues to be an issue...i can manage now to get 20 oz of water in then wait an hour and then 3 tbl spoons of lowfat cottage cheese...without burping too much, then after waiting an hour after eating i try to get in another 20 oz of water...then i dont know it just seems everything else i have tried to eat brings on the burping and its just so bad i dont want to even try anything else...and Im supposed to transition to solids on Wednesday...but at least cottage cheese has alot of protien...plus i do drink a protine drink each day so im getting 40 grams of protine there...im gona try some egg salad to day...i'll let you all know how that goes.
