I had the Plication done in September 2010. So far I have lost only 30lbs, I am going on January 6th to try to revise the plication to VSG. This is being done by Dr. Jose Rodrigues. I will go in 1 day early to get some test done in order to measure my stomach to see if the VSG can be done. Has anyone heard of the plication being revised to VSG. I am feeling a bit nervous as the date is getting closer. I look forward to your comments,

Hello there. I just saw this pop up under recent entries and I do not want to scare you but is this the same Dr. that you are speaking about?

I am not sharing this to stir the pot or cause you undue stress. I'm sorry that you are facing a revision. I'm sure there has to be some people who have revised from plication to sleeve, as the plications are still "new" but have been around for at least two years or so. Please do your research and decide what is best for you and find a dr. that you trust completely to do your revision. As I understand it no matter WHAT type of revision you are doing, you absolutely need to find someone experienced with revisions as it is much trickier than a virgin WLS procedure.

I wish you all the best, and even though I wasn't a revision, I am 14 months post op and still very happy with my VSG. All the best to you!

Yes, it is the same doctor. Sounds scary. I will definitely do some further research. Thanks for the input.

After reading the other person's post I was really scared. Then I thought who pays $10,000 for a VSG. Is this really true?

Anyhow, after saying a prayer I made the decision to continue on with my revision since my deposit was made, my flight booked and my mind made up. I headed out one day early before the surgery on January 5th to Juarez Mexico at the Star Medica Hospital to have my revision from Plication to Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I went alone by the way, crazy thing to do. On my first day I almost wanted to cancel everything because I became scared and depressed. I took my magicjack with me and talk to my family to keep me strong. Now I am so happy I had my surgery. The doctors and staff were amazing. When I woke up from surgery I wasn't even throwing up or feeling horrible pain. There was some pain from the incision and some dizziness, but it was managable. The Plication was a completely different recovery. I vomitted and was so ill after awaken from surgery. I was horribly sick for 2 weeks and was not able to stand on my feet for long. That time my flight back home was like a nightmare in my memory. With the VSG my travel back home last night was okay. I got wheelchair service and the 6hours flight was somewhat tiring but okay. It is now 4days after my surgery and I am so excited to start my second weight loss journey: thanks to Belite weight and Dr. Jose Rodriguez. Not forgetting to thank my weightloss friends for their words of advice and encouragement. God Bless Us All.
