Just Had Surgery!

Dee3177

I just had surgery December 14th on Wednesday.

The most painful part was the gas. It was like having really, really bad heartburn.

I didn't eat anything for the first two days and now I can finally pass liquids.

I am on a liquids only diet and I can drink and eat clear liquids.

It hurts to swallow and I can't tell when I'm full or maybe I just don't know when I'm full. That still confuses me. I just know that I feel pain but I don't know if that is because of what I ate because it's right after surgery or because that is when I'm full. I can't tell and that to me is very confusing.

I hope to figure it out soon...

I just got home a few min, ago. Surg, was yesterday. THE GAS=WOW!!! It was hard to pass, and I was walking last night.I'm better since my loose stools. I'm on a full liquid diet which I thought was strange.

I understand how you feel. The gas can be so painful but it does wear off I can guarentee you. The best is walking and sipping on warm liquids like tea. It helped me so much.

You will know when you are full your stomach will tell you. You will get "that full feeling" telling you to stop. The first two weeks you are going to be on a liquid regiment. Follow your doctor's advice. After the two weeks is up you will go into soft mushy foods. Best advice for the smoochy foods stage is to eat slowly. Don't try to eat anything that isn't mushy. The only thing that will do is make you sick, Drink your fluids as directed and try eating how you are advised from your doctor. When you get into eating regular foods, chew well and eat slowly. Enjoy your food. I weighed out my portions, I found it easier to do that and it also gave me a good gauge on how much to eat. I have been very strict with my new stomach. As of today, going on my 5th month ive lost 74pds and the scale is still tipping downward. I believe strongly it has a lot to do with me following my md's advice and using good judgement when selecting the foods im eating. I have some excellent easy recipes when you get to the stage of regular foods.

Feel better soon.
