2 Days Post Op... #@$%

Had my sleeve 12/12 Monday at 8:30 am. After I woke up from surgery it was like living hell. The gas pains were pretty bad all centered in my stomach and ribs, i stayed doped up on morphine pretty much all day. My family was all there and very supportive.

Tuesday was just as bad in a different way. I started having burning in my stomach and esophagus on top of the gas pains. I asked for the lortab elixir on monday but they never brought it to me, they just gave me tylenol which helped somewhat. I had no sleep monday night into tuesday morning. I finally got lortab on tuesday and that helped a lot. It made me drowsy at first then i'd be alert and ready to go. I was able to walk the halls about 6 times on tuesday.

I got about 3-4 hour blocks of sleep tuesday night into wednesday morning. Was feeling much better but didnt have the energy to shower.

Got discharged about 9am this morning and i feel great as long as i'm on my lortab. but once it starts wearing off i'm in quite a bit of pain. Also got in a shower when i got home. I wasnt able to pick up my lortab prescription till 2pm and i was in quite a bit of pain by then.

The gas pain is still there and still annoying and painful. I'm trying to get down all the liquids i can in any form. i'm looking for some broth recipes since so far i havent liked any plain broth that i have.

I've had a couple emotional spells since i got home, and been wondering if i did the right thing. I'm hoping it gets better.

Also been having itching on the backs of my legs thats driving me crazy. Put a call into my dr to see what they say.

Wrapping up this drug induced rambling, i'll keep you posted

No shame in staying on the Lortab. I took my percocets fairly religiously for about 5 days after I got home from the hospital. We're all so paranoid about pain meds in our culture that lots of people don't take them when they should so they can rest and heal.

You made it! Now the fun part starts! :P

Thank you for the update on your surgery..I have just about finished my pre-requisite appts and a date should be coming any day and I am excited and freaking out at the same time.

I wish you a speedy recovery, from what I hear you will be fine in no time and on your way to a new life... Thank you for your blog and I hope you can keep up as you go so I can get a peek of what I am in store for.. ;)

Congrats on your surgery! You will be feeling better in no time! I took my vicodin religiously the first 5 days. The 6th day I started with just tylenol and have been ok since then. Take them if you need them!

You will feel a whole lot better in a couple days. The gas pains might stick around for a bit longer, but it you get up and walk each day, it will get better. I bought the powder boullion to make soup broth and it was WAAAYY better than the canned broth. Good luck!

I just got sleeved Tues 12/13. I am using Loratab and Zofram (nausea) , but I also am using Gas-X strips, and they are helping a lot. Good luck and hang in there. Just remember there are others out there like you- We can do this! Just think how great it will be to ANNOUNCE your weight and not be ashamed of it. Imagine looking forward to going clothes shopping or wearing heels again, or not worrying about needing a table not a booth! I can't wait until I actually weigh less than my 6 ft 2 husband (by the way I am 5ft 1).

Thanks I've been lucky and haven't had any nausea the entire time. Unfortunately gas x doesnt seem to do anything for me. I'm just trying to stay positive.
