Do it on your own

The one thing that people keep asking me is, "can't you lose weight on your own," like I won't be doing any work if I get surgery. I understand that they mean can't I lose weight without surgery. Truth is, yes I can and, I have about 10 times. I have gotten down to a reasonable weight only to gain it back again. I'm tired of playing the yoyo....losing and gaining. The first time I went to weight watchers I was in SECOND GRADE!! I have been losing and gaining weight since I was 7!! That's 26 years of trying to lose weight....I am so tired of trying to keep a certain weight....for 26 years! This is exactly why I am not telling many people I know, because I don't want to hear people's opinions. Ya'll know what opinions are like...lol. I'm tired of hearing them....unless of course they are supportive :)

You ARE going to do it on your own! The sleeve is a tool you use to lose and manage your weight! Don't the ignorant pull you down, and don't feel like you have to explain yourself to them. Smile sweetly, say "thank you for your concern" and move on. You're in it to win it....for YOU! B)

I have not been telling anyone either for the same reason. I have been overweight ,now obese, my entire adult life. I am tired of losing and regaining all and then some. Every time I lose 30 lbs, I gain 40 and so on and so on. I am getting my surgery in 4 weeks. I am nervous and looking forward to it at the same time. If I could have done it without this tool, don't you think I would have? It is really no one else's business but mine and my family's. I hate being judged already for being obese, I don't need other people's opinions or comments about getting this type of surgery. Most people think they mean well, but it hurts when they say things unintended or on purpose. It is not the easy way out, it is an extreme sacrifice to give up 85% of your stomach in order to become healthy. One can only imagine how much time I have already spent in the gym, how many salads I have eaten. I am ready once and for all to lose this weight and then maintain, not regain! Good luck to you.

Yes, and every time I lose it "on my own" I gain back about 10% more than I lost. Dieting has made me morbidly obese! I think what you say is just right. I haven't told anyone yet but I pprobably will when they ask. I just don't know if I will be as nice as you about it!

I saw the surgeon this week and was told I have to lose 15 punds before he will schedule the surgery ! I wanted to cry, but he said that all his

pt.s are required to have a goal weight because you ant go cold turkey with the surgery, I wanted to say yes I caould but I understand why he does what he does !! I havent told any of my friends expect two about my plans for surgery because people just dont understand !! I can lose weight on my own but it comes back plus more and Im tired of that !! Good luck !!

Pull out the doctor card it you have to. Tell people that your doctor suggested you get the surgery. That way they can't make comments directed at you because your doctor said so. People who havn't been on the rollercoaster for their entire lives don't know what it is like. This is about your happiness. Go for it.
