I too live in a small town (way) south of Dallas, and I also went through the vsg approval process with BCBS. Once the hospital FINALLY decided to send the info to them, it took like three days for approval! I was finally sleeved on December 2nd.

I hope you are as fortunate as I was in the approval process! I too know people that the band hasn't worked for, but they're not pursuing revisions as of yet. My pcp told me flat out that the band doesn't work, so that was never an option for me. I have a lot more to lose than you do though. Good luck!!

I live nearby in Houston! I have spent 3 and a half years dealing with my horrible lapband. I finally had my revision to VSG on Monday. I couldn't be happier! I can't wait for you to have your sleeve, too. : )

Aww wow.....that's exciting to think maybe it could happen sooner than later!! I'm still on the nervous side of how bad the pain will be and if I'll choke on food...I have choked before while having the lap band and thought I was going to choke to death!! I'm petrified the restriction will be like that!!

Congratulations Becca wow that's so awesome....I'm so happy for you....please tell me all about what I can expect after the procedure...pain....and recovery....praying for you!!

What about multiple "fix" surgeries is Non Invasive? I ask that to anyone who says the band is Non Invasive. That is a load of crappola!!! The band is plenty invasive and I believe in enough time everyone's bands will need to be removed/replaced - etc. Also, the revision to a new band is certain failure. I've yet to see one person where it works a second time around, even if the first time the band worked great.

Congrats to you on getting your sleeve (very soon). You will be super happy and sooo glad to be rid of that band. I'm a convert too!! I have NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!!!

I hope all went well with ur reversal yesterday!!! i initially considered the band, but after hearing more about the sleeve i was convinced that was better for me. i'm in michigan and have 1 friend who had the band, they've all much success, but like you said...ppl don't tell u about the horror stories. thanks for sharing yours and best of luck!!!
