So, I am 23 and I have been over weight for as long as I can remember.. My highest weight was 253 and after trying every diet possible I decided to go to a physician assisted weight loss program and I lost nearly 60 pounds.. I kept the weight off for almost 2 years but slowly started putting it back on. In 2008, my mom went to Mexico and did the VSG surgery with Dr. Alvarez and she has lost over 100lbs and is the happiest I have ever seen her. After researching and researching I decided that this is for me. I am kind of nervous because this is a big decision but I think it is the right one.. My date is January 20th and after reading the amazing results from other people on this site I am so excited for this new beginning!

Congrats on taking that step. I should be having my surgery about the same time. There is a thread under preop for January sleevers.

Hi,

I am going to have surgery January 25 in Juerez Mexico with Dr Rodrequez.. I was going to have the Gastric Plication Sleeve but now the person I am talking to is telling me that they are recommending the VSG because they have not been having the results that they like with the Plication.

What kind of surgery are you having?
