I have to know if anyone out there has cheated on the full liquids/stage 2 part of the post op diet? I really can't take one more serving of pudding, applesauce, yogurt, or cream o' wheat. I'd kill for something savory. The hub is making mashed potatoes with his dinner tonight and not sure how I'll refrain from sticking a spoon in!!

Tomorrow the nutritionist will be calling and she's a joyless souless hag so I definately can't ask her about progressing my diet sooner than recommended. Help! I know it's only a couple of more days but I feel sad and verging on the edge of depression. Just can't get my head in the game.

hey when was your surgery? how many days out are you? i pretty much stayed on track with my diet up til i was on soft foods. but i will be honest my doctor advances your diet pretty quickly. he advances alot quicker than some doctors out there. good luck and just try your best. that is all you can do. i wish that i had read this before you had dinner, but take the mashed potatoes and water them down a bit so they will fit into your diet plan right now. you can do this girl..

I'm still on clear liquids and I advance to the mushies on Tuesday. I'm struggling a bit myself, too. Can't wait to eat something. The only thing that keeps me going is that I really want my stomach to heal properly and I don't want to have trouble with a leak. I keep trying to remind myself that this stage is just temporary.

I wish you luck with the rest of diet. You can do it!!!

Thanks so much for the support! I'm 12 days out and after 14 days I can have pureed food. I did well 2nite. Stayed away from the mash and had lemon yogurt instead. Blah. In reading other's post I'm noticing the food stages and time lines are widely varied so I'm wondering if the surgery is so new that there aren't any hard and fast rules. I just need to make it thru the rest of the evening and tomorrow will be easier since I'll only be a day of away from some wonderfully delicious pureed food. Yum!
