Gallstones it is. . .

I had a sinking feeling that my gallbladder was the culprit in all of this. I was hoping it was something simple like the Wellbutrin, but of course not, it requires that I have another surgery.

I went to the ER on Thursday night. Got a bag of fluids, 2 percocets, and a diagnosis of a UTI. The idiot doctor didn't even do an abdominal exam.

Anyways, on Friday, I called my bariatric nurse, and he got me in for a GB ultrasound, and abdominal CT. The u/s revealed a gallbladder full of stones. I was told that the surgeon would be informed, and hopefully they will get me in soon for surgery.

I left feeling pretty defeated. I'm back on a liquid diet, bland as it can be. Every sip, swallow, hurts.

My surgeon, bless his heart, called me this morning (Saturday) and told me to come in on Tuesday at 10am. He's hoping to get me on the OR roster sometime this week. As much as I don't want to endure another surgery, I can't handle hurting like this constantly. Not to mention the horrendous gas that has started since all of this.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

I'll try to keep everyone posted.

Oh Tiff, I am so sorry. You have been through so much and now this...yuck! Mine was found diseased last summer, but I'm hoping I can wait until this summer to get it out. Please know that I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Big hugs!!!

Tiffy,

I am so sorry, and you were feeling so good for so long! What were your symptoms? I have heard some patients are given a certain medicine by their surgeon and sometimes helps, were you?

Take care and the best on your surgery next week!

oh tiff, sorry that you have to go through surgery all over again. the only good thing is that you want hurt anymore when you eat. i know it can be miserable. had mine out back in 92 or 93. mine was also full of stones. it probably flared up due to your healthy diet. i will keep you in my prayers this week.

Thank you all so very much.

I was not given Actigall post-op because I had zero history of GB attacks, and because my revision was going to be extensive they didn't want to risk another complication.

I've read a lot of conflicting information on the drug Actigall so I wouldn't of probably taken it to begin with. . .

My symptoms were the explosive diarrhea and dry heaving on Saturday night after I went out to dinner. Then Sunday, I was super puny. Monday the pain while eating and drinking started and progressed to get worse.

The pain came when I ate or drank anything. Then it would radiate across my abdomen, and shoot up to my left shoulder.

Today, I've been able to eat some wheat thins with PB, and it has stayed down. Unfortunately, the shoulder pain has gone from occasionally to constant. It's a nawing, sharp pain, not throbbing, but constant. I'm learning to just deal with it. I got 2 percocets at the ER, and they did absolutely nothing for the pain, so I'm not going to ask for more pain meds.

Thank you all for your support, well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

Tiff,

I have heard that you can have gallbladder issues with rapid weight loss. Sorry to hear that you were so plagued by it. Percocets didn't help? Wow, definately ask for more pain meds =)

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Be well and may you have a quick, safe, recovery.

Rob
