Rambling thoughts

So, I just decided to start this blog b/c I have all of these VSG thoughts and I need somewhere to put them!

My incisions are healing well and even though they told us to take of the bandage on the big one after 15 days, I hate not having it covered. I don't know why it bothers me. I hope it heals totally soon.

I finally found a RTD protein that I love - Odwalla Protein Monster. It's has carbs (27g) but also 33g of Protein per bottle. Boy do I feel better! That whey stuff makes me GAG and dry heave so I just gave up on it. :001_tongue: I tried finding the Naked drinks - my grocer had them before but not now? phfffffffft. frustrating.

I have been eating a Greek yogurt (14g) + Odwalla + a few other things and I get to 50-55g. Close enough for now - I can only do so much.

I bought some of the protein peanut butter at GNC but man they aren't kidding when they say it separates! It seems gross to me but it's ok for shakes. Just can't imagine eating it plain.

What I have realized is that I just have a big intolerance for artificial sweetener of any kind. I was trying to get pregnant forever, then pregnant, then breastfeeding and I didn't have any in all that time. So I just have to look for products without them. If that slows down my weight loss, so be it. I will focus on good carbs. I was never a potato or rice person, so at least those are conquered. haha.

I have lost roughly 19 pounds (I think 2-3 were pre-op). This puts me back to close to my pre-pregnancy weight - close enough that I now have some CLOTHES to wear. I refused to buy any before so I had nothing.

Oh, and my baby took his first steps this week! :) I can't believe it.

Congrats on your success, and I'm glad to hear that you found some protein that you can tolerate.

How precious for your baby's first steps, that's so exciting ! ! !

Newmom, I know what you mean about the incision being covered. I clean them twice a day with alcohol and cover them all! The big one is itching and seems scabbed over but not chancing anything. I had surg Dec 4. Glad you are finding protein you can tolerate. I have a whole box of samples for shakes that I can't stand. I should have gotten unflavored powder and put it in drinks or does that have a smell also? I'm just so glad I feel better every day!

The shakes are just blech. If I get that "whey" smell I dry heave. I just gave up when I found the Odwalla. It tastes like choc milk, and if I freeze it, like a milkshake! I had unflavored powder and to me it still had that smell.

I think I had an allergic reaction to the tape covering the site. I got a rash from it! I am sure it is that b/c of the pattern of the rash.

Wow, this is a bit creepy! We have a lot in common! I am also dry heaving over the whey protein. UGH! Can you buy the Odwalla in stores? I need to try that. I also cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners, though I have been able to have the sf pudding, otherwise, I just prefer natural (for my health too). And I had a reaction to the tape they covered my incisions with. My neck actually started to burn around the central line! It looks like I have a hickey!! Well, I am glad to read your blog, thanks for sharing.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
    • Congratulations! What a great journey! Thank you so much for sharing. You are inspiring!

      Einarmige Banditen
