First Fill!

First of all, thank you for your comments and support. You have no idea how much that means to me. It makes me feel that I'm not alone and that people are rooting for me!

SO! I got my first fill today. I had to sneak out of work to get it. I was very nervous and sweaty when I was called in the fill room. The first thing they did was weigh me. I gained 2 pounds in 2 weeks. SIGH.

I thought I was going to get my fill from my surgeon, but it ended up being the PA. She is probably better at them anyways, so I was fine with that. But I think she was a bit annoyed with some of my questions. I asked if there was any chance this fill could be too much and i wouldn't be able to swallow anything. She said there was no chance of that because I was going to drink water before I left to make sure liquids at least go down. Then I asked if it was possible that I'd reach the perfect restriction level with just this one fill and she said there was no chance of that!

She poked me with a needle to numb the area, which really hurt. And then she took the fill needle and started doing weird things to me. It felt sooo incredibly disgusting. It totally reminded me of getting a pap done! How weird is that?!?! It was not painful ... but there was tons of pressure where I didn't want pressure. My eyes were squeezed shut and I kept thinking "is it over, is it over". I could feel the liquid moving through my body (or at least I imagined I could). The whole process lasted less than 7 minutes. I had 4 cc put in my 10 cc band.

It was weird and uncomfortable. But if it makes me skinny, then I'll make the sacrifice!

I'm on liquids for 2 days, then mushies for 2 days, then back to normal after that. Meh .. what's normal ... I don't even know anymore!

wow what a totally different experience than my fills.. I've only had two and my Dr. does them.. so easy .. no pain nothing.. he gives me a cup of water and waits to see if I can get it down.. when I feel it in my throat he withdraws some of the fluid until I am comfortable again.. I can't imagine what she was doing to you that felt like a pap ???? where is your port? 4 cc is a big fill for the first fill... so far I only have 2 cc's I was banded in Jan...

Hi! I just registered to this site. I also just received my first fill on yesterday. I only got 2cc. I have to return in 4 weeks for an additional fill. So far, I have lost 18 pounds since I started my pre-surgery liquid diet. I have tons of information but I would like to know how much and how often are you eating? Then, if not asking to much.... what exactly are you eating? I love meat and veggies so I have no problem with the change. My problem is knowing when I am full. I have had two mishaps where I took one bite to much and it was not pretty. I am happy for you and I do hope your successful in your journey. I work out 5 days a week for one hour. This seems to help with me getting all of my fluids in. What about you?

Wow. I do not work out an hour a day! I try to be active most days of the week. So that means walks during lunch break, or going to the gym after work. I am not on a real exercise plan or anything. I do strength training 2x a week. For eating ... I'm all over the board. I try to follow the basic rules - protein first, then veggies, then starch. I am making a lot of shredded meats in my slow cooker right now. Super convenient. I eat every few hours, unfortunately. I have a homemade smoothie for breakfast, a protein bar for snack, a frozen dinner for lunch, then some sort of protein/meat for supper.
