first fill

blogs/blog-0425873001376416779.jpgI had my first fill today and it wasn't fun. I have two bruises and two bandages over my port. I had to get them standing up. I am going to try to work with the fill i received so that I can stay away from being prodded with that big darn needle. I was livid when I saw that I only lost 3.2 pounds but now that I think about it. I dont feel bad about it. I look great in my old clothes and I can go down stairs without sweating.

I was told to stop with the bread, rice and pasta.. I had my hand slapped for that one. I was also told to exercise five days a week for at least an hour. so starting next week that is my new goal. :)

I don't understand 2 bandages. My doctor has me lay down and raise my legs and the port like pops and then he goes in once.

If I gave up up carbs, I would lose more weight but when I do without I eat more of those items. But everyone has to listen to their own doctor and dietitian.

Any loss is better than a gain. Congratulations!!!

Adrienne how did you feel before you had your first fill? Were you hungry? Did you have trouble eating anything or feeling like it was stuck? I was banded a week and a half ago and for the last few days have been sooo hungry. I am still on post-op diet but sometimes feel like food gets stuck, and then passes through if that makes sense.

Hi! I am kind of confused although I know each physician is different. I had my very first fill on yesterday and I was numbed up, then the HUGE NEEDLE lol but no pain. My doctor had me to sip on some chalky white stuff while he viewed on the xray machine. I stood up the entire time. Not uncomfortable at all. I am exactly six weeks out. I have lost 18 pounds but I exercise 1 hour a day 5 days a week. Please share more of your experience with me. I am very excited to hear about it. And, other than bread ( giggles) what are you eating and how much?

@ angemc, I was eating 1200 cals but feeling slightly hungry quicker. 2-3 hours after depending on what i ate. I felt like i needed a fill because I was able to eat a full chicken breast and half a cup of veggies and still felt like I could eat more. but I am still learning the difference of being full and being satisfied because I associate being full with being satisfied. When I feel like its in my throat I just take two sips of water. wait five minutes and then try again.

@ sol, HIIII SOOOLLLL. lol The needle was like four to five inches long. she was literally jabbing the heck out of me. I was laying down at first and then When I asked her to stop she had me stand up. I still have a little soreness to that area but it is tolerable. she is the only person who administers the shots.
