Will I be back to normal tomorrow?

Tomorrow I get to add Chicken, turkey, pasta, bread, rice, nuts, raw fruits and veggies. I feel like things are going back to normal but I am scared. So what happen to my momentum? It still here but my fear has taken over for a bit. So why am I afraid now? I know I was going great and follow my post op diet to a T but now I want to stay in the post op diet zone? Is this my new default? My old default was me drinking a bottles of wine and eating at Jack in the box. But now I just want to eat mashed potatoes and sea food forever. What happens if I can’t handle chicken or turkey? My biggest fear is me getting stuck or throwing up. I hate being sick because it sucks. I especially hate getting sick when it’s my fault. Its like waking up with a hangover so you avoid getting wasted like that again. I know I can do this but my plan is to add new foods in slowly. Trust me I am not planning on over doing it but I will educate myself.

Thanks for reading.

You will be fine. Just remember, chew, chew chew and you should be fine. No drinking for 30 minutes before and after. If you get a stuck feeling, get up and walk until the feeling goes away. I have had that more than once, in restaurants and at family dinners. Sometimes a burp and then I am fine.

Don't psyche yourself out. If you are timid about eating real food because of your fear of being "stuck", I'm afraid you will eat more "slider foods" which can be loaded with calories. You will be defeating the purpose. Honestly, as long as I chewed a lot and took small bites, I could eat MOST things. Well, until this last fill....and then I realized why they want you to eat small bites and eat slowly from the beginning. You will be fine....enjoy your new food groups!

As much as I couldn't wait for real food, I was also scared about having an episode; like the ones we read about. Because of that, I ate SO slow, and my bites were extra tiny. I paid close attention to how each bite felt, and little by little, I found my comfort zone. Certain things didn't feel good. They didn't make me sick, but I just didn't like the way they felt; made me a bit nauseous. So I excluded those things, and stuck to what felt comfortable. All the ground meats worked very well. Eggs, sort of hit & miss. Sometimes (even three months out), if I eat them in the morning, I'll taste them for hours. Not sick, just grossed out.

Just a suggestion..... On the fruits & veggies, make sure the veggies are cooked until they're very soft. Fruit and vegetables have been tricky for me. Some cause immediate discomfort as soon as they hit my stomach.

You'll be fine! It's okay to be a little scared, because that will help keep you focused on what you need to do. In the beginning, all of the teeny tiny slow eating helped me to retrain myself. If I'm preoccupied while eating, I may forget, but only momentarily.

Good luck!
