I have not been on this site for a long time and I hope i do not get negative comments for this post. I was banded in august of 2011. i started out at 272, got down on my own to 249 the day of surgery, i lost very very slowly, doing everything they said to do and exercising, i got down to 222 last summer, then everything halted. My surgeon is rude and was very irritated with me for not losing more weight and I tried to explain to him that i have other conditions that affect my weight loss , mostly pcos, pcos makes it very difficult to lose weight, he litterally said that was bull sh.....t. so i have not been back to him for 7 months. i can either eat right or i throw up. i have gained weight back and am back up to 244 almost what i weighed at surgey day. im disgusted with the band, i feel like a fat bolemic person. i eat like a bird and throw up constantly. i gain weight even though i dont eat and when i do eat it is healthy food. I am going to a different surgeon and discussing a revision from band to sleeve. i was wondering if anyone out there has had a revision. and please no negative comments. i did what i was suppose to do for the band, it just doesnt work for me. thanks for listening.

First off, this isn't negitive, but this is what I would do. Sit down honestly and write out- bullited what you have done- food, exercise, ect. Go to a nutritionist, get their take, a WLS NUT is worth their weight in gold. They have a lot of insight into how our bodies work and absorb/not absorb things.

PCOS does make a huge diffrence. My BFF has it and her doc would not even consider the band, but said bypass was her best bet. However, now, while the weight is gone, she is having HORRIBLE aborption issues and is sickly because of it. Find another doctor, one who understands the effects of PCOS. Get there advice and research the heck out of it.

Some with PCOS do great with the band, so do great with bypass- I have a former classmate that has lost very little with bypass and has PCOS. So it is really dependant on the person.

Good luck and hold your head high. If you are honest about what you have done, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Keep fighting for your health.

I agree whole heartedly with Kime - Good luck to you finding a new doctor, find one who cares and will treat you right! Seems like the last one has definitely put a bad taste in your mouth, and you need to be surrounded by supportive people, doctors and nurses included.

i have pcos and i have done very well with the band..i was banded in oct,and have lost 95 lbs since!!!......BUT...i do vomit a lot,and now im wondering if its because of the pcos and not because of other reasons, like being too tight, which was my first thought!!

First off, your doctor sounds very unprofessional. Second, vomiting is not normal, band or no band, in the absence of illness, motion sickness, etc. in addition to talking to a nutritionist, get a new bariatric surgeon and a barium swallow to determine why you're vomiting. This is a very big red flag and shouldn't be ignored.

Best of luck to you.

I wish you the best of luck. From what i've read, you seriously need consult with a new doctor. This clown seems not only unprofessional, but down right rude.Good luck in all you do.
