Surgery in 2 days and scared of failure....

So my surgery is in 2 days and the only thing I keep thinking about is if im gonna fail at this or not. I think I just have such high expectations for myself that it's getting in my way. I have so much weight to lose and its overwhelming at times, know what I mean? I want to wear a size 12 but im a size 26 and that's a long way to go. Im excited im making this decision to have WLS but it's a long road ahead. I pray my body goes along with it all and just starts losing but I realize that I have to make the right food choices as well and get off my butt and workout again. Im gonna have to take it one day at a time and set little mini goals for myself. A lot of my friends and family know about this surgery and I feel like I have to prove to them all that it was the right decision and that It does work....a lot of pressure! I got this!

You're gonna do great, I'm recently banded and my best advice would be not to set to high of expectations for right after the surgery,so many people seem to think they will go home weighing 25 pounds less, your body will need 4-6 weeks to heal, and not everyone loses weight during the healing process. but when you have healed and are eating right and working out, you will feel great, and you will do these things bc your dr. said so and he knows how to help you!

please don't think you'll fail, know you will be succesful. you're right you got this! Good Luck

I was just banded on April 1, and I have had a variety of emotions.... and the fear of failure has for sure lurked in my mind at times. But I take one day at a time, and I follow the diet given to me by my MD. I look at this blog every day for support, and I have a great support system in my personal world that I rely on and to share my fears and victories with! You got this!!!!!

It's not about "perfect". It's about effort. And when you bring that effort everyday...that's when transformation begins!

You will be fine...take some deep breaths. Do this for yourself...and only yourself.

I'm being banded in May and having the same fears. I'm afraid I'll do everything right, but my body won't cooperate. Is that possible? Good luck ,and I'm sure will be OK.

You'll do fine just remember to follow your Doc and Nutritionist guidelines. It is OK to set high goals for yourself but please, please keep the immediate expectations in check. You are not going to drop a 100lbs a week after surgery. I don't mean to come off as preaching but we see these posts daily about how ppl have surgery and a month or so later they're pissed because they have lost next to nothing for weight. I was one of those people. I was not prepared like I thought I was. I expected weight to fall off quickly the first couple of months then gradually slow down. Well it was the opposite.

Patience was a tough one for me and still at times. Just remember you did not get to this point over night and you will not hit those goals that way either.

Good luck and all the best!!

BTW being scared of failure is normal. I had told a lot of people I was having the surgery then started to worry about failure and being known as the fat guy who couldn't lose weight even with WLS......

Failure is not an option for me but the thought of it is scary....normal
