Hung to Dry

I have stayed positive through this entire ordeal. However I feel like the clinic I used banded me, and the first signs of trouble left me hanging. Everything went great with my band until I became sick with Swine flu, then had a round of Mono this winter. The clinic had to take fluid out because I was ill. That was back in Nov. They still don't want to fill me up where I was before. I am back to the old cravings as usual. Now, they are refusing to make me an appt for another six weeks, because they don't have any openings. I am sitting here in tears, because one year ago, I thought if I did my part, than this would work and go well. Instead True Results gave up on ME the moment I became ill and started having problems. I have never been past 8cc'ss in my 14 cc band in the last ten months. I have never been down to the 1/2 c. a food a meal they want us at, and yet they have refused to get me there and now refuse to get me in. Not that they have done ANYTHING the last six months when I have went.

I guess I will give up.

I am so sorry to hear you got so sick. Do Not Give Up!! We are all here to try to help you. I have had my PCP call and make appointments for me with specialists. Would yours with the Band people? I have never eaten 1/2 cup of anything. I eat more than that. I have under 3 cc in a 10 band. Try mind over matter and don't think about the band's liquid think about your health and try to retrain yourself to have less food.

I wish you luck with everything.

Let me be the contrarian here. This is a pity party and I'm not buying it? I agree with Dylan that your PCP may have some sway over getting you in. And I know if it were me, I'd demand they get me in or at the very least put me on a waiting list if someone should cancel. Hard to believe that an opening won't happen in the next 6 weeks?

You can't expect them to take your band right to where you were before the illness. Your stomach lining could be different now and you also need to show a willingness to eat like a bandster. You're starting all over again and that's the way I would approach it if I were your physician.

Have you looked at other clinics for a fill? It's easy to give up and if that's what you want you will. But if you really want this, you will find a way. I don't mean to be cruel but there's no way in hell I'd give up my dream so easily.

I live four hours from the city, therefore they can't just call me when they have an opening. Thanks for the as usual negative comments from this website. I have not given up. It seems that True Results has given up on me. There is a huge difference. I paid for the band because it was suppose to stop the cravings, it did for the first few months. i plan on calling this office and talking to someone else in the morning. I am also a teacher with high stakes testing this next week and I can't take off work this week to make it to my apt. But it has never taken 6 weeks to reschedule before.

i do not have a fill and i am losing weight. i am proof you do NOT need a fill to lose weight. if you are not losing weight, you are not eating properly. you can eat 1/2 cup but if its cheap slider foods/high fat etc, its not helping...you need to be eating protein filled and filling foods, veggies and fruit and drinking ALOT.

i have followed you since you were banded and i know you teach and i know you have kids...but you got to do this for YOU>

the band will NOT make you not hungry or stop cravings. it is there to help you eat less. that is all...it will help you stay full longer.....and if you eat filling protein foods, you will be (satisfied).

its a matter of want power. if you want to lose weight, then do it.

dont wait for a doctor or a doctors visit it do it.

and when you get into the dr, then get that fill but until then, make it happen.

Hi, I also live very far away but my question is: Is True Results the only resource you have for fills? I know it would be better to stay with the one that knows you but your records can be sent to a new doctor. It maybe time to move on?

I also live 4 hours away from my dr. and I'm sorry that you're going through a difficult time. so they can't get you in for 6 weeks, frustrating I know but you just have to schedule your appointment, eat right until then (remember this is a lifestyle change anyway) when your there hopefully they will give you just what you need but if the dr. chooses to be tough and start with a small fill then be tough too, go home eat right and return for another fill. You know you don't have a useless piece of plastic inside you because it has worked for you, and I'm sure it won't have been the first time you've had to jump through some hoops for a dr. we all have too.

this is just a bad day and when you think about it you'll see what you need to do and you'll feel better!

take care and love yourself
