It's Approved

I just found out today I have been approved for my lapband. Now I am really terrified and keep thinking "is this what you really want?" The thought of giving up my beloved food and having to be healthy is scary. Anyone else been there? Is this normal?

Then I think "oh I can just go back on my Atkins diet and drop some weigh"t but I know I would put it right back on.

This is a huge lifestye change! What if I fail?

I totally know what you are talking about. I was Banded 7/30 and up until I went into the operation room, I was ready to say NO. I am so happy I did it. I look better and feel much better. I can walk now and I actually enjoy it. I can now buy clothes in the misses department not the women's. I call it the FF department, Fat F-ck. That is what I also called myself, FF. No more. After being on protein shakes for so long, food means nothing to me now. I do miss pizza, my favorite food. Some day I will have one slice again. I miss salad but know protein is more important. You will do great! Do it for your better health and new clothes. What woman doesn;t want new clothes in a smaller size?

Good Luck!!!!!!

Honestly, when I got the call for my surgery date I was elated and panicked at the same moment - of OMG, what am I doing.

Truth is, it is a normal feeling and you came to this decision after much thought, education, and reason. Go back to those reasons. It is easy to be nervous and want to change your mind but I will tell you that most people (myself included) post-surgery have no regrets and only wish we did it sooner.

I am about 2 months post-op, down 43 lbs., and am so happy I did it. I struggled with food and didn't want to give up my large volume and high fat meals. I have been satisfied and not missing what I used to eat. If I do have a craving, I have found healthier ways to fulfill my craving and MUCH smaller quantities due to the band.

Thank you so much. It is scary when I realize how my entire life is centered around food! My husband and I both had a 3 day weekend. Everytime he would ask me what I wanted to do the first thing that ALWAYS pops in my head is something to do with food. It is truly amazing I don't weigh more than I do.

I have horrible acid reflux and am constantly bloated and miseralbe no matter what I eat. I am hoping the band helps with that.
