Its been 3 full days since surgery. Im not in any pain ( Havent needed 1 prescribed pain pill) I get that pressure in the chest and have to get up and walk around even if its 2:30 in the morning. Last night was the first night I was comfortable laying on my side.. I broke out the body pillow and slept like I was 8 months pregnant. LOL.. Im bored with the liquid diet. And I hate The WHeY protein crap.. << need help with the BEST tasting one.. so anyone who reads this PLEASE HELP!! I actually feel hungry and I try to keep myself busy when I feel like I could eat; which is really only meal times. The broth and so on isnt cutting it.. I still have all weekend. Last night my husband came in the bedroom and I was like " hey you smell like BBQ'd chips" Well yea he did because he was just eating them!! ( this is how pathetic I am) I said " Kiss me" lol I got a taste of the flavor.. I know that sounds soo gross.. but really Thats how desprate I am.. Can I survive this? And Im not burbing, I have this loud hiccup thing going on.. And Im coming out the other end..total bummer. My mom says see can already see a differance.. Well yay! Im not eating even a quarter of what I use to .. Hell Im not eating at ALL.. I refuse to weigh myself right now.. I feel like Im an anerexic.. (this cant be healthy) I might not be understanding the amount of the protein shake iam aloud ? but I was told only 3oz .. that cant be enough for my BIG organs can it? Is my body getting the nutrition it needs. I cant even do my chewable vitamins till my next stage. I feel weak and I have no idea how I am to start work monday.. ugh well and suggestions?? please!!!

Congrats on your surgery. The first couple of weeks were the hardest for me. I was hardly able to eat/drink anything at all. My dr wanted me to have I think 65 gm of protein a day and atleast 64 oz of liquids. In the beginning I didn't reach those, it was only until about week 3 that I got enough in.

I couldn't stand any of the protein powders, I thought they were all vile. I think Premier Protein shakes (30gm protein) from costco are the best. EAS shakes are also pretty good, though less protein.

My drs plan was three 2oz meals a day.(starting with pudding consistancy then moving to solid foods by week 4. Plus as much protein drink/liquid as I wanted. Just sip all day long to get enough protein in.

Do you have a nutritionist you can talk to? Mine were so helpful in the beginning.

Good luck!

Heavens Sake! First lets take a deep breath!

Did they fix a hernia? They did with me and I had that pressure but you are a trooper because I had to take something for the pain just couldn’t do it!

As far as the protein goes…I have found the GNC has the best tasting for me…Amplified Wheybolic extreme 60…Cookies and Cream is to die for!

Yum! BBQ chips kisses! That made me laugh!

And you ask can you survive! ABSOFREAKINLUTEY you can! Believe me if I can anyone can! Surround yourself with supportive people! The noise your body is going to make will amaze you! Especially if the room is very quiet is kinda entertaining!

It’s a journey and you will learn quickly that you must listen to your body and do as it tells you! Take it slow!

How about V8 have you tried it?

Stay positive!

And let us know how things go!

Congrats!!!! The first few days are painful. The air they put in you hits the shoulders. I hip cup all the time. Drinking too fast. I was banded 3 1/2 weeks ago and started real food yesterday!!!! I buy a Whey protein powder at Walmart for around $14. I love the chocolate with 8oz skim milk and lots of ice cubes and it becomes a thick shake. Just remember you are getting healthier every day. I am off all my pre surgery meds. Don't forget your daily vitamin. Yesterday I ate my first real food, a meatball. I couldn't finish it. Since I started the pre diet I have lost 43lbs. Good luck and smile thinking of all the new clothes in a smaller size you will be wearing this fall. I went clothes shopping in my closet and some things were all ready too big.

Thanks guys!! Im day 4 now, still got the case of the crazy loud hiccups!! Finally passed my 1st BM which really made some nausea go away.. Im handling the protein shake a little better, I really cant drink more than 2oz of it really. I talked with the Nurse at the Dr's office yesterday and she said I was okay to start applesauce! And if that went okay to go ahead and have yogart. So I had 3oz applesauze for lunch and then for dinner did 3 oz of yogart. The air is still bubbling in my chest but thankfully its not painful AS MUCH. Last night at around 3 am I had an episode and needed to walk around the house. But Im sleeping better . Getting over thinking Im hungry. Which will always be a battle for me. Im going shopping today to pick up my chewable vitamins and try some other protein powders so I can handle more. And the nurse said diet snapples..?? So Im all over that! (getting really bored of water) Cystal light is always too tart I shouldnt put a whole package in next time.. Those mio drops; I cant find one I like. My husband says he doesnt know how Im going to get the nutrition I need becasue Im soo picky. He is right about that. Im glad he is taking such good care of me! I appreciate the comments!! I will keep updating!!

Im also 3 days post op. 23 August 2012. You couldnt be more spot on. I was running around all night in the hospital.

i had no pain from surgery. Just horrible gas pressure. And at day three its slightly better but still makes me uncomfortable all day. Purees not so bad. I mixed it with broth and it was tolerable. I find sugar free popcicles help with hunger. Go back Tuesday to get my staples removed.

If i could get this gas to a minimum ...life would be wonderful.
