And It All Comes Crashing Down........

Woke up this morning and headed to Seattle with Ty... First we met with the dietitian and learned a lot of stuff. It was nice because we got to do both consults together. After talking to the surgeon, she told us that it would be better if I did the surgery a few months before Ty, and that a few months before leaving for Japan. So I was excited and scared to think that I would be getting the surgery in a month or so. Then we came home to see if we would qualify for CareCredit.... and sadly we don't. So now it looks like we are going to have to wait until I come home from Japan in May of 2013. I'm sad. I don't know if I can wait a year.

I felt same way when I found that my new insurance didn't cover obesity related surgery. What a blow.

I decided to pay for it myself. It's not cheap but neither is an overweight lifestyle either. My friend likened it to a nose job she had - you'll have this investment your whole life. But yet we pay for cars and housing and they have a "shelf life" but are much more expensive....one way to think/justify it!

I'm so sorry Shelley...sucks when the monkey's throw wrenches and mess up the plan that you had in your head. As much as I hate it and don't want to do it the monkey's have wrenched me so bad that I'm gonna have to go and get bypass instead of the lovely band that I wanted. I can finance a band or college and have insurance pay for the bypass so that looks like the way I'm gonna have to go....I'm gonna lurk around here at LBT though. RNY board is kind of depressing.

Is there any other method of financing that you guys could try? Maybe some credit card or check with the different places that you might go through for surgery and see what financing they offer?

The hospital that does the surgery doesn't offer "in house" financing. We tried carecredit, and I need to contact the facility to see what other options they have. I just don't think I can wait a year.

That's okay this gives you a head start to try on your own and wait until insurance picks you up!! But don't worry I see you having the surgery much sooner then that!!! When the prayers go up!1 The Blessings come down!!

My insurance does not cover weight loss surgery BUT they do cover Hiatal Hernias which I do have. I'm now being banded via my hernia surgery. My out of pocket will be $5500 which True Results will finance at $235 per month. I was turned down by Care Credit. You may want to try that option. Good luck to you.
