Struggling

Hi Everyone:

I was banded 12/12/11 and I have lost 71 pounds! I know it’s great, but it’s really hard for me. I have good days and then I mostly have bad days. I can't keep anything down and I feel like I want my life back. I'm missing eating (hamburgers, pasta, and rice) I can't even keep yogurt down. I currently have 5cc in my band. I can't have any potatoes which is my all-time favorite. I'm totally missing food! Believe me I eat really slow and have really little bites. Most of the time I wish I wouldn't have this done.

I'm so depressed about having this surgery!

We recently moved from Texas to Tennessee and finally after 3 months trying to get into a new doctor I have an appointment July 31.

Please let me know if anyone is having these issues!

Thanks,

Kelly

If you are taking tiny bites and chewing thoroughly yet can't keep anything down, you're too tight and you need a slight unfill. Having a band too tight can lead to a slip and not something to mess with. I'd definitely meet with your surgeon sooner than later.

The band should not be miserable and throwing up isn't normal. Good luck

Try starting your day with some warm tea. I found that will help relax the band some. Breakfast is always a hard time for me, so I have a protein shake. I just make mine with juice instead of milk ( v8/ acai berry) and add kale. Sipping it slowly helps me. The kale is tasteless but helps with fiber and is a veggie, the protein powder gives me 20 grams and the banana is good for leg cramps:-)

Another thing that can help is food lube, sounds bad, but it helps. Don't eat chicken without a lowfat dip of some type. Cottage cheese and spinach blended up is a favorite. Think going back to high protein mushies until you can get into your doctor.

I sometimes wish there was a magic way to just hide the head hunger we have. Hang in there and when in doubt have some milk. Not

Losing the ability to eat your favorite food is miserable. I can't have many meats due to chewing problems. I am working on the TMJ issues, but chewing steak 20-30 times is near impossible.

Remember why you did this, and write it down. When you start having the negative thoughts, go to your positive list and change your thinking. Let us know how the doctor visit goes.

I had my surgery on Aug.30,2012, I have 5cc in my band and have lost a total of 54 pounds, but I usually go 2 weeks at one weight before I start losing again, it seems to go off in spurts. I have the hardest time eating beef,it gets stuck even if I chew thoroughly.I hate when my scale does not change for weeks and get frustrated and wish this weight would come off faster. Is it suppose to come off in spurts? My weight is at a stand still and can not get it down and I walk everyday and twice a week I walk a mile around the town park but can not lose the way I would like to, at first I lost 5 pounds a week, then it slowed down.Any suggestions on how to lose it faster. This time my weight has not changed in 4 weeks and I am afraid I will never get to my goal.
