Getting Unbanded! Never Thought I'd Be Here!

Lapband LaLa

I am sad to report I will be unbanded asap. I was banded for a little over three years. I lost all my weight within 8 months. I was the happiest I have ever been in my life and then the problem started. Now what? How do I live my life unbanded? How do I get the band out since I was a self pay bander? With no insurance, that's almost impossible. How can something that was my intimate friend and helper become the enemy now?

Warning...I let the F-Bomb out one time guys, if that upsets you, please don't listen. This is pretty emotional to me and I let it slip.

Can you revise to another surgery? I was self pay too so I know it is hard but maybe something like careone, or even a no interest credit card. That is how I did my Band (credit card). I did not listen to video but my Doctor was $3000 to remove band and that was several years ago. I hope you can find a way to move on to sleeve or get another band. I would have to if that happen to me. I would have to find a way.

lala, will your insurance company not cover the removal despite the infection??? that seems crazy.

have you worked through some of the reasons you ate before the band? has the band helped you to realize what a normal portion is? do you think that these things could help you not eat as much once the band is removed? since you are at a good weight now, do you think you could start doing some exercise routines that are a little more intense to help you keep the weight off? i wish there were easier answers. i am sad to hear of your struggle and don't wish this on anyone. good luck and keep updating.
