The Drink

I don't drink often... (not since Japan) but Ty does. Last night we both got pretty drunk, and this morning I had proof of the night in the feeling of my body. IT HURT. But now I'm wonder how one drinks with Lap Band. I know that I can give up alcohol... I think, but I know Ty will have a harder time. We like to go out with our friends, but how does it work with the band?

Just some thoughts that I'm having. I'm pretty tired today, after work a 10 hour shift of overtime, and now I am sitting on my couch watching Pride and Prejudice and getting ready for bed. We have an early morning, our company golf tournement, Ty is a very good golfer, I wish he would go golfing more often.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Any answers on the alcohol question would be awesome.

Well, after the band, most people are light weights when it comes to drinking. There isn't much in the stomach to soak up the alcohol, so getting drunk a lot quicker happens. Also, beer is a no-no due to the carbonation. Same goes with soda as chasers. Most alcoholic beverages have a lot of calories. Empty calories at that. I only drink alcohol every once in a while, and only have a couple shots when I do drink now. I only drink at home, and have tea or some other non carbonated beverage as a chaser. Either that, or I will have a couple glasses of wine. As they say - everything in moderation.

I have had two really bad experiences with drinking since banded. Both times it was with Dirty Martini's. I finally learned my lesson after New Years Eve this year and now only have an occassional 4oz glass of wine. I used to be able to drink multiple drinks and knew when I needed to stop, now days I can go from zero to wasted and never realize how I got there. I am 107 lbs lighter now but it still is not a good experience from my point of view.

That makes sense. I think Ty will just have to learn, he's kinda stubborn. I will be able to give it up. Thank you for the info. Congrats on the 107 downage!
