Such A Failure

Well I had my surgery on April 2 and haven't been able to eat anything but cream of chicken soup after i was able to get in 100 grams of protein a day. I am down a total of 16 pounds since surgery which I think is remarkable for me. However, since my post op appointment two weeks ago, I have only dropped 3 pounds. There was no fluid put in my band during the surgery so i just have a band and waiting for my first fill on May 15th. Here comes the bad news, on tonight, because I was sooo hungry, I ate two chicken strips and four fries from Wing Stop and feel like I did something wrong. But the good part is that I am full and will wait the 30 minutes to drink. I know I am suppose to eat healthy and I can't believe I did this to myself. I don't want to hurt my stomach, but I was so hungry.

How did you all deal with the hunger during this time because another week of this and I am going to go crazy!!!!

Seems like I will never do right and just want to cry.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have been going to lots of classes and the one thing that all of them have said, your band is a tool and you are going to have good days and bad. Don't give up on yourself. I was told that protein shakes are ok, that adding protein powder to things also help with the hunger. I was also told that once I am eating solids I can back off of the protein drinks and eat protein bars. Give yourself a break, you are making a difference in your life now, take it one day at a time and don't forget to drink your water!!!!!

Good luck :)

First and foremost you are down 16 lbs and that is awesome. Second, you are going to have slip ups. I always tell myself as long as I do right 6 days out of 7 I can be healthy.

You aren't going to gain weight from eating the chicken strips. Was it a great healthy choice? No. But you're human and you messed up.

As you get used to your band and understand how it works for your body some days will get a lot easier and some days will be tougher than today. The band isn't magic, it just a great tool that we can use. Overeating and making bad choices got us to where we were before the band and those habits will take a long time to change! You are in no way a failure.

Here are a couple of things that have helped me. Use Myfitnesspal.com or some other form of food tracker. When you slip up be true to yourself and just record it. When you see the calories it makes it easier to say no the next time.

As soon as you possibly can start walking and tracking the calories that you burn. when you compare how hard it is to burn calories to what you want to eat it makes it easier to say no.

I wish I could give you a big hug because I know how you feel, but you're alright, just get up and try again tomorrow!

It happens to us all but remember the first 6mos will be your chance to lose ur most weight after that trust me it gets harder and its very easy to gain the weight back ( i know that as well) keep handly low cal protein shakes thicken them up with fruit in the blender, Greek Yogurt w/ granola & fruit or Turkey Jerky. Try hard to follow your doctors rules to Lapband Success. You can do this. Its all in the mind. I'm back in 99% lol. and its a daily hourly struggle.
