Flintstone's Vitamins!

TexasSherri

I was way too tired all weekend, so I decided I needed more protein (sick of the shakes) and vitamins I was willing to take. I got some bean soup, which I make watery and chew well, and some Flintstone's Vitamins. They taste good...much better than the liquid stuff I bought and used once! The bean soup and vitamins made me feel better.

I saw a comment about being uncomfortable at day 13. Wow...that sounds like maybe there's a problem? I still have a little discomfort where my port is, but it only bothers me when I roll over in bed...and even that is minimal.

I watched a video last night from this woman...much younger than me...who is about six weeks post op and has only lost 20 pounds...mostly pre-op. This made me feel a little better, since most videos are showing people dropping weight really fast. I'm trying to be realistic. After all, I'm over 50! I lost about 5 pounds pre-op and about 3 since the surgery. I'm OK with that.

So now, it's almost 8pm and I have to be to work early in the morning...so to bed with me!

Thanks to everyone for your support!

My nutritionist suggested I get Flintstone Vitamins when I have my surgery (June 13th). I too am over 50 (57 actually). She also keeps saying to make sure I eat my protein first.

Good Luck!

Hi, I am post op day 12 and up until yesterday, My port felt like it was pinching me from the inside, but it stopped. The nurse said its sounds like its where the clamp of the port is stiched to the muscle. It stopped yesterday. Hope this helps.

I also do the Flinstone vitamins and I am not over the age of 50. I really would like to switch to gummies but doesn't look like thats going to happen. How are you eating? I am only a week out but do not feel much restriction....at all! I dropped weight faster a few weeks following the surgery. People at work would ask me how are you losing so much weight, "don't eat" lol!! Happy Healing!!!

HI ALL, I HAVE BEEN TWO YRS PAST MY LAP BAND SURGERY....I LOST 97LBS AND STILL LOSING..MY APPETITE HAS SLOWED DOWN TO A I DON'T FEEL LIKE EATING....BUT I DO, I HAVE H2O PROBLEMS I WANT MORE WATER BUT I HAVE TO SPEND THE DAY WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER AND ONLY SIP, I CAN'T TAKE A GULP OR IT WILL COME RIGHT UP FROM MY STOMACH..THIS IS THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINT THAT I HAVE SEEN IN TWO YRS, DRS. DON'T PREPARE US FOR THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE TO TALK TO EACH OTHER ABOUT THESE THINGS SO WE CAN FEEL BETTER ABOUT THIS SURGERY....I ALSO BUY MY VITAMINS FROM WHOLE FOODS, THEY ARE PURE . THERE IS A BOOK OUT CALLED DRUG MUGGERS, SUZY COHAN, FROM RODALE BOOKS, YOU WILL FIND LOTS OF NEW INF. ON SAFE VITAMINS....I TAKE COQ10 AND AFTER TWO WEEKS I FELT SO MUCH BETTER EVEN MENTALLY...HOPE SOME OF THIS HELPS..MARYANNE

FORGOT TO TELL YOU, IF WE EAT FOOD THAT WILL SWELL UP IN OUR STOMACH LIKE BREAD, PASTA, RICE, UNLESS IT IS WHOLE GRAIN THE FOOD WILL COME UP WHEN IT SWELLS...SORRY KIDS BUT ICE CREAM IS ANOTHER ONE, VERY SMALL AMTS WORK BETTER. TRY NOT TO DRINK WHEN YOU EAT, IF YOUR THIRSTY DURING A MEAL TAKE A DRINK BUT SQUISH IT IN YOUR MOUTH AND LET IT OUT DON'T SWALLOW ,IF YOUR OUT FORGET IT...I CARRY SMALL SANDWICH BAGS WITH ME IN CASE I HAVE A PROBLEM, JUST ZIP AND DUMP...LOOSENING UP THE BAND SOLVES SOME OF THE PROBLEM, BUT TRY TO HOLD OFF CUT BACK AND SIP, SIP, SIP, TRY LIQUID FOOD FOR TWO DAYS THE BAND WILL EASE UP...THOUGHT I WAS GETTING AN ANGINA ATTACK THAT CAN BE UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT IT WILL EASE UP...

So far, nothing has gotten stuck. I take several small pills, that would fit through a straw, and they go down fine. I take one capsule shaped pill that I break in half first. I just take them one at a time....instead of the whole handful at once like I used to do! I'm hoping that, after I've dropped some weight, I won't have to take them all any more.
