As long as you're feeling hungry in between meals and are able to eat like before you were banded... go right ahead and get one. However don't get filled so tightly that your not able to enjoy a small meal of solid foods. It's no fun getting stuck on a regualr basis no matter how much weight your losing! All the best.

my doc had me come in 4 weeks after surgery for my fill and then it was up to me. does your surgeon have a protocol?

I was wondering this myself. My surgeon has me waiting a full 8 weeks before he will give me a fill however my best friend had hers done a week before by a different surgeon and her doctor is only making her wait 6 weeks ugh.. frustrating but i will be ok because i am still learning how to chew slowly even with no fill i do hav some restriction. LOL not sure if that helped.

Most doc's do first fill in 4-6 weeks. They like to allow the body time to heal and that seems to be the normal. I know you are excited and ready to get started on this journey but it will happen soon enough and you want your body to be ready for the first adjustment. You need to keep practicing your portion control and healthy food choices and this takes months and even years of reprogramming. Some things to start now is along with the chewing eat off of a small plate and measure everything. We all think we understand and know portion control but sadly we don't and it takes time to develop healthy habits. Good luck to you!
