Not Losing Much Need Help Before I Go Crazy

Hello everyone I was banded on 10/7/2011 I am only down 35lbs and So frustrated I just sarted a new workout program which is zumba 2 days a week and the gym cardio 2 days a week what else do I need to do? I have pretty good restriction I don't snack much but I will do a cracker or something no candy no bread. What to do plz

I don't know if I have any "good advice", but I might be able to put things in perspective a little. First of all, I know you want this weight to just go away fast, but I think you are doing just fine (there's always room for improvement) and you shouldn't let this get you down. Perhaps your weightloss is slower than some, but losing slower will do a lot of good things for you: you skin won't be baggy, you will have time to develop muscle tone, you will be able to adjust to the new lifestyle instead of starving yourself/just being on another "diet", and mostly importantly those that lose slower are twice as likely to keep it off as those that lose quickly with drastic measures like starving themselves. I TELL YOU ALL THIS BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO TELL MYSELF WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'LL GO CRAZY. I was banded november 30th and have lost 25ish lbs and wish it would go faster, but i have to realize that slow and steady wins the race. If you really want to amp things up there's always the traditional advice of playing around with calorie counting (more or less depending) and uping the exercise, but you're smart enough to figure that out so i don't want to lecture you

My experience with slowed weight loss is similar...frustrating and sometimes difficult to stay motivated.

As my doctor told me, the band provides the slowest rate of weight loss, and 1-2 pounds a week is considered good progress. We are all individuals, so it does not help psychologically to compare yourself to others.

Another consideration is that as you loose fat and build muscle, you are really making progress, it is just more difficult to see. The numbers on the scale seem stuck, but you are becoming more fit...always a good thing!

Keep up the good work...you will reach your goals if you stay focused on the goal! Good luck!!

I too can become discouraged over the slow weight loss. But I so have to tell myself that today is today & I will do my best today. Yesterday is gone my dear & tomorrow hasn't shown itself yet. So for today - enjoy you .

I have had many periods of plateau's as well as some weight gain on my journey. I was banded over two years ago. But the best thing to remember is that although it is slow.. it is coming off. And it may take you longer than some others that you see on this site.. but it will happen for you! I have lost over 80 pounds... and Im still not there yet.. but hey.. thats better then where I was! My struggle now is making sure I do eat.. so make sure that you are eating because not eating you would think you would loose.. but you dont.. and Iv'e been stuck here for a while... so make sure you eat first thing in the morning to start your metabolism and keep it going all day with healthy snacks and good meals. You will get there... but it is a journey that takes time~!

Good advice from everyone. We are all different and lose at different rates. It may depend on how much overweight you are. I weighted 299 when I started my journey and have lost 83 pounds since 7/26/2011. The first 75 came off real fast, but the last ten have been much slower.

Best advice I can give is slow and steady will win the race. Just stick to the rules and you will do it.
