I'm just curious because when I eat something like pudding or creamy soup I stop after 3 spoonfuls and weight to see if I'm full.. I then get a feeling of tightness, so I stop.. Then 10 mins goes my and I get a nauseous feeling but I don't throw up and if I eat more the feeling goes away.. Is the nauseous feeling the feeling of I'm hungry? I'm so confused because I don't want to over eat and throw up.. What is the feeling of full? What is the feeling of hungry? It seems way different then before!

I was able to drink my 11oz shake the day after surgery fine. I think that many people experience gas vs food the first couple days, and for me I found that I would get a little nauseous at first because it was like the gas pushed up and the food wanted to go down. I have no idea medically if that is a good explanation, but I found that as gas bloating/crazy burps went down, I was able to eat more normally to my true signals.

just take it slow and pay attention to true hunger. I have had to stop myself from continuing eating even when feeling ravenous. If I still feel hungry after about 10-15 min, I know it's real.

Thanks Stephyander, I was thinking it was gas.. It may just be that! :)

Stephanie22085, the lap band is a band that they put around the top part of your stomach to create a tiny pouch.. During the weight loss process you can only intake what that little tiny pouch and hold which is about 3-4 bites of food.. Then your body will digest it slowly so you feel fuller longer. Before surgery you have to go on a complete liquid diet to reduce the fat in your liver.. "During this time I was on the liquid diet for 6 days and I lost 18lbs." Then 6 weeks after the surgery you go on a full liquid diet eating a bigger variety of things until you heal.. Then you go in for your first fill where they fill the band with saline to make it tighter because now it's time to move onto solids.. It does not hurt to have a fill.. If you want to learn more you can go to a support group in your area.. They are held everywhere.. Go to Lapband.com and see if there is one in your area.. This is how I found my surgeon.. :)

my dr had me on a liquid diet of boost for 14 days before surgery........i lost 18lbs....it was the hardest thing i think i ever did......but now that i am banded trust me it does not take much to fill me.........i am losing inches and a few lbs......i have lost 20 but the inches are going..........kinda makes it discouraging on the scales but u would think if inches r going pounds have to be too lol.....oh well its slow and easy and that is the main thing.........i guess the trick to this whole thing is to eat and chew slow.......chew till its like a mush in your mouth...........maybe if i had done that years ago i would not have had to have this band done..........but i am glad i did it.....
