Too Much Attention And Stranger Rudeness

I am a customer service representative at a bank. I see the same people quite frequently. I have to say, that I am getting sick and tired of all the comments/questions/and attention coming my way because of the weight loss! I don't mind responding to these types of things when it's coming from friends, but from people I barely know?? I can't stand it! I have people grilling me on how I lost the weight, asking me what size I'm wearing, how much weight I've lost etc etc. I know this may seem odd to some of you, but I just don't like it. Why can't people just say I'm looking good and leave it at that? But noooo....An elderly woman commented on my weight loss today. I don't even know who she is! And she was like "How did you do it?" Not "how are you doing it?" like she suspected I had surgery or something. I don't tell strangers about the surgery, so I just responded that I was counting calories...which isn't a lie because I am! She then proceeds to give me a look like she didn't believe me and then was like "It makes you look pretty." Ummm excuse me? I know, I know, some of you might be thinking that this is a compliment. I believe that I was pretty before my weight loss. Now I'm just healthier AND pretty! It upset me and pretty much put a downer on the rest of my day. All of this from someone I don't even know! She wasn't even a regular customer! I've also had people tell me I need to buy new clothes...well DUH!! Sorry guys, I just need to vent this out. Does anyone else feel the same way? Some women may be soaking up the extra attention, but not me. It just makes me uncomfortable. Like I said, I don't mind a simple compliment, but I've discovered that people can rarely leave it at that. I'm just frustrated. I feel like a day can't go by where I don't get into a conversation about how I've lost the weight. Okay...I'm done now. Excuse this rant! Haha.

You're not accountable to anyone but yourself when it comes to your weightloss! You had to eat less and move more. That's the honest truth! If you did not put the effort into achieving your success it would not have been possible. Just look at the numerous person who have not been successful. Hold your head up, look pretty and confident and be proud of the results of your hardwork.. you had to persevere and a great deal of willpower was involved.

And you have all rights to put persons who want to compare your beauty between now and then, in their place. People are always gonna make those sort of compliments. For eg. This morning one of my co-workers told me I looked like a put on weight today. So I asked how did I look yesterday? She replied that I looked trimmer. So I said well I guess I put on weight overnight! DUH! My out fit yesterday was just less bulkier than the one I wore today! Just this evening I had to let my two older sons, who were geering at my before picture, know that I was the same mommy they loved then as they do now... they apologised and kissed me afterwards, lol. Congrats... can't wait to have your type of problems lol

I'm with you, legnarevocrednu. I don't like the attention either. So much so that I am afraid being this uncomfortable before has sent me back to my "safe" fat weight.

hey, you're entitled to rant, thats why this forum works so well. i dont have a prob with anybody asking me q about my weight loss, but its ok if you do. to each their own, and no you're not wrong for feeling like people are going too far with their ?. the problem today is nobody has a filter ! everyone thinks it's normal to ask personal ? about ANYTHING! well, its not ! it used to be people were respectful of others privacy on personal matters. well not anymore ! between the internet and nosy obnoxious reality shows (pure crap, most of them) it's all out in the open. you cant change people asking about your weight loss, so i guess you'll just have to change your response so you'll still feel comfortable. Try " I've lost weight by eating healthier and exercising (true) and I prefer to leave it at that." (Smile !) They'll get the hint, and if they dont you've still been professional and polite. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss !

I'm with you, it seems more like they are grilling you with questions, than actually taking personal interest in you as a person. I've had that happen. I ended up just saying if so n so is interested that person can call me, when the woman said oh Im asking you all the questions for so n so.

I'm lucky to have wonderful supporters in my family and at work (1-2) have had gastric or lapband. I work with 150 men and I've been approached by 1-2 about procedure, the PROCEDURE, they didn't ask my clothes size or new bra size, they really wanted to know so I didn't mind. All we have to say when they ask about weight loss, is I've really been working on it, which would not be a lie.

Good Luck!
