Frustrated To The Point Of Crying

As I type this, tears fill my eyes. I am so frustrated with my weight loss. I was seen in december of 2010 and was 272, I had to go to my primary dr for 6 months with supervised diet which I did and got down to 254 in august of 2011, I did preop diet for one week and lost 5 lbs putting me at 249 day of my surgery which was aug. 31 2011, thats 6 1/2 months ago and I am down to 229. I cant seem to budge, I eat so much less than i did before but nothing seems to happen. one week i weigh 229, then i weigh 233 then back down to 230 then to 229 its like a yo yo. I have had 4 fills with a total of 6 cc in my band and i have restriction. I dont pb much and I dont eat much but something is not working for me. I have a difficult time exercising because I have muscle weakness and pain, went to my primary dr today and he is testing me for rhematoid arthritis and says i could have fibromyalgia or myastenia gravis. my surgeon says that i shouldnt have to exercise to lose my weight and im eating correctly or atleast i think I am but im not losing. very very frustrated and my surgeon is not very nice anyhow and all he says is what are you doing wrong and I explain to him what im doing and he says well you habve plenty of restriction you need to learn to work with the restriction you have and im like wtf does that mean? I am working with it. I also joined weight watchers thinking that would help keep my on track and track my food better but still nothing, not really gaining but not losing either. and I know we are NEVER suppose to compare ourselves with other WLS patients, but when i read all these blogs and profiles and see how so many have lost 80 lbs in 6 months it just makes me cry even more. guess Im just destined to be the fat chic forever. :(

Oh honey, I so totally feel ya!! Try not to get discouraged, I am so very proud of the weight you have lost!! RA is a very difficult disease to live with, and it may lead to some depression. That will make weight loss harder, but don't give up!! All if us here are rooting for you!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Don't cry you are losing just slowly. If you eat too much it is bad but also if you do not eat enough. You may not be eating enough and your body goes into starvation mode. Don't give up. Do you go to a support group? If not find one, it helps so much. Or find you a buddy on here and exchanges info and talk on phone or e-mail everyday. It will help you so much.

Hey hun...I feel your pain...I am only a month out and haven't lost a thing... My fear is that I will end up not loosing much 6 months out...since I get my fills every month and have to wait another month to get my second one..didn't get any restriction from it either. What about just walking? You don't have to do vigorous exercise but if you just tried to walk for 30-60 minutes a day it may make a big difference. I think you've done great so far though ..think about it this way..at least your not a year out and have only lost 15 pounds! You really haven't done too bad..some ppl just loose wayyy faster than others...they are lucky...but I know we will get there. Good luck!

Praying for you. I have RA. Was diagnosed when I was 21. I'm almost 43 now. It does make it difficult to start exercising...but start slowly and build up. It will eventually make the RA better...because you are excercising those joints. As someone posted above, even just getting out and taking a stroll for a few minutes each day...and slowly increasing that time...will help. Make sure you are getting enough to eat and drinking enough water. I am having trouble with the water and I think that is stalling me. God Bless!

i hate to sweat and my knees and hips hurt and im overweight and out of shape, so............ you get the picture, right ? so , i started taking a water fitness class 3x a week, and walking when permitted and oh what a difference ! the warm water is heaven on my joints and fun and i dont feel like im sweating but i am getting a great workout ! as im getting looser i feel more comfy and less tight so im starting to take up yoga too. its a slow journey but my body and weight is starting to respond in a positive way. so go sign up for a water fitness class, or start walking if you can. good luck to you, and hang in there ! see you in the hot tub after class !!

If you are eating 1000 to 1200 calories a day you will lose weight even without exercising. I lost my weight slowly (about 5 pounds a month). There is no way 1000 calories will support a female to stay obese...please check your calories and be patient. I never did exercise either but just lazy...hang in there!

Listening to your band involves knowing real hunger from just wanting food and knowing when you are no longer hungry, not necessarily full. It really all comes down to calories. At 1000 you will lose and if you are still hungry ask for a small fill. I eat about 1000 a day and I never exercise and my weight stays exactly the same (140) . I did plateau at 155 and I got a 0.3cc fill which I thought would be nothing but 15 pounds came off in three months.

So my point is: count every calorie and make sure you are honest with yourself and consider a small fill if you need it. The only way you can fail this band (other than complications requiring surgery) is to quit...dont do that!

thank you all for the positive comments, i truly do believe that exercise is my downfall, I need to do something even if it is just walking for a bit a day. I just feel so frustrated because of reading how successful everyone is and no matter how you look at it , i still feel like a failure because my weight loss is so slow, today was my weigh in day and i lost 1 lb. guess that is better than nothing. I am going to try the walking and I have a swimming pool but cant use that right now, but i do remember last year when i was alot heavier that it was easy on my joints being in the pool, so i do have that to look forward to. thanks again for all the positive comments its good to know you can vent here and not be judged. god bless

Hi Kristy, I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time. I agree with the walking and pool exercise. For a while they were the only things I could do at all. Maybe you could look into some aqua aerobics at your local YMCA, something like a silver sneakers class. I know how much of a struggle it is when you hurt so bad, but it really does help the pain. I hope you don't have to deal with RA too - I just found out that I probably have serum negative RA. I don't know what kind of meds you are on, but a lot of the ones they use to control fibro can cause you to gain weight. I would imagine that they might also make it harder to lose weight as well. Also, check out your sodium intake to see how high it is. I recently found out that I am sensitive to sodium, and cutting it back has helped kick-start my weight loss again. And sodium sensitivity may be made worse by the fibro, since we tend to be sensitive to chemicals anyway.

I know it's hard and very frustrating, but you can do this. I'll be praying for you!
