Haveing some problems and not sure what to think or what i should do next so if anyone has had these problems I would love to get some advice...I have 5.5 cc in my 11cc band right now I have problems eating the healthy food, like things get stuck I get horrible chest pains and it feels like i am haveing a heart attack. The mushy foods and soups seem to be just fine and I feel like I dont get full at all?? I can eat cottage cheese and yogurt and want way more then I should eat. I try chicken or pork and take the small bites and then i am fine for a few bites and then it starts the pain and sometimes even vomit?? SO when I go back to the doctor do i get unfilled or more fill?? Am i supposed to be feeling this way?? Should I just stick to the soft foods?? My doctor is great and is willing to help and wants me to succeed and so do I but I would love to hear from others that maybe have had some of these problems and maybe a little advice on what my next steps should be....Oh and yes I am looseing weight maybe not really fast but its comming off I work out at least 4 times a week too. I am about 4 months out of surgery. Thanks for listening!!

You should be able to eat about 2-3 ozs of protein each meal. Solid protein that is moist and well chewed. A lot of people have problems early in the morning with the band being tight but by 10 or so you should be able to eat solids. I would tell your doctor how your feeling after small amounts of solids. Your band should never restrict you from eating but should help you feel satisfied and not hungry between meals, if the band prevents you from eating than it may be to tight. It sounds like you are already too tight. The soft mushy foods that you are eating won't fill you up, you will get hungry and you will put on weight. The band is designed to work most effectively when you eat solid protein, veg and healthy carbs. If you can't eat these you are too tight.

I am 4 months post-op & dealing w/ similar issue. Amazed to find how easy it is to get "junk" food or soft/mushy foods down while it is so hard to get the "good" foods down. I often find myself having to cough & spit up the chicken I was trying to swallow. But after some serious self-evaluating & some "in your face" advice from a banded friend......I believe that part of my problem w/ the protein foods is that I may think I am chewing, chewing, chewing....but in reality I am trying to force some half-chewed pieces down too fast. Because I am still in a hurry to get through supper (2small kids to feed & keep on track for bedtime). I do so much better during the day (in my office or on the road) b/c I truly take my time. I'm just suggesting you take a long, hard look at how long it actually takes you to eat. You may be rushing the meats or more solid foods more than you think. I only have 3cc in a 10cc band & I am not losing much weight. My hubby thinks that is crazy b/c he knows how much I vomit trying to eat dinner. But I know that during the day & even after everybody eats supper....I'm tired of trying to force chicken down so I get a bowl of sugar free ice cream or I have a handful of hershey kisses. What I need to do is chew, chew, chew & get that protein in. All that said--2 of my banded friends (each has lost over 70lbs in 1 yr) believe I need another fill. They say that will be the one that will FORCE me to slow down & I'll see that I am still eating too fast.
