First Date After Lapband

So, tonight I have my first date after having lapband surgery. To be honest, I haven't had a date in a very long time. I'm excited and a little nervous. I purposely asked that we go bowling instead of out to eat or something because I didn't want the guy to think I'm weird. He can think that later if he wants lol but first impressions matter!

I'm sure some of you can relate, but men don't normally pay attention to me. Not quite sure why. I don't think I'm disgusting to look at (even with the extra weight) and I'm not a psycho or a weirdo. I have decent self esteem (I have my issues but everyone does). But for some reason, I just haven't done well in the men department. So tonight is like starting a whole new venture for me. It may not lead to anything with this specific guy, but I still feel as if I'm taking a step in the right direction.

I am down 36 pounds as of today. People are constantly remarking on how "skinny" I look. That's obviously not true, but it makes me happy.

Anyways, I'm posting a couple more pics of me at 222 pounds!

Don't forget to add me on myfitnesspal SN: legnarevocrednu

Have a great time on your date! You look very nice in your pic! I am pre-surgery (date is 2-8-12 for the surgery) and also weigh 222 lbs! I have to lose 4 lbs. prior to the surgery (hope I can!). So how are you feeling and doing with the eating? I just found out about myfitnesspal.com today. Please add me. My screen name is angeloudi99.

Congrats on the date! My husband died about 4 yrs ago and I started dating again about 18 mths ago - when I weighed about 200 (down 50 lbs since surgery). I think I told pretty much all of my dates what I had done. I was pretty proud of myself. In fact, the last guy I dated (I just married him on Dec 3rd!) we had something in common. He had just gotten done losing 80 lbs thru lo carbing it. I've now lost over 100 lbs and I don't care who knows. None of the gys ever thought I was weird, they all congratulated me actually. So if it does slip out, don't worry about being "weird". They'll be happy to know that you're on your way to a healthier and happier you!

Good Luck - I've always found it better to tell about my band within the first date because that way if you get stuck or have to explain why you can't eat certain things is easier. Just please be careful with bowling it's an odd movement and I worry that if things aren't completely healed in there that there may be slippage. I'm a worry wort and it may not be a problem but thought I would bring it up anyway. I read a post buy someone who was pulled up into a boat after being banded for years and the pulling up by the arm motion made her slip badly. I'm sorry to be weird but that's just my overactive worry gene.

No don't apologize. I'm the dumy who didn't even THINK about the possibility of hurting my band. It was 7 weeks out however, and I guess that's why I didn't think of it. I was sore the next day, but everything is fine. I'm still feeling the band and I'm still losing weight. Thanks for your concern though! I will definititely be more cautious and aware next time!
