I still can't believe I finally got my lapband!

It's pretty surreal, but the pain I'm experiencing today reassures me it really happened lol. I've been lucky enough to have very supportive parents and boyfriend here taking care of me since I got home though. I cannot express how excited I am about where this new journey will take me. I have been overweight since I was 6 & can't even imagine what it'll be like to finally feel "normal" with regards to my weight. I'm so happy that I found LapBandTalk, I don't personally know anyone else who has had this procedure & have decided to only tell a select few close to me so I love that I can come online and find support from so many great people who know exactly what I am going through!

I had my surgery yesterday around 230pm and was out the door by 5pm (Really quick!). The pain medicine has been helping a lot. My incisions haven't caused me much pain, but the gas that they use for surgery is horrible. I try to walk as much as I can to get it out of my body but my shoulder begins to hurt pretty quick. I slept sitting up on my couch last night because the pain. I'm hoping I will be able to sleep in my bed again In a day or two.

My diet post-op has mostly consisted of protein shakes, soup, and popsicles. I haven't been very hungry which is making this liquid diet easy so far, I just hope it stays this way! lol.

Good luck to all of us on our new lives! biggrin.png

Congratulations. Welcome. I feel you pain with the gas. I took the couch cushion and put behind me in my bed so I sort sat up in bed. Take your pain meds, before you start hurting too much, I only needed them a few days. My recovery was much easier and quicker than I thought. I am 11 days post op and felt really good. so good, i forget sometimes that I shouldn't bend or lift things. my body reminds me quickly. If I overdo it my port site hurts more or I get crampy. So just remeber to take it easy and be good to yourself and you will be fine. Happy New Year!!

Congratulations! I was finally banded on Friday as well! YAY! I really haven't been drinking anything but Vitamin water. Today I think I will start back on my protein shakes and try broth and maybe popsicles.I too am in pain. I am more comfortable laying somewhat flat. The gas pains haven't been to bad. My insicions hurt. I had a very nice experience with my surgeon and his staff. Everyone was very kind! My surgery was scheduled for 10:00 am and we were on the road by 2. The ride home was not very pleasant. I cringed when we hit any small bump in the road but we made it home. For now all I plan on doing is a whole lot of nothing! I can't believe that I did it! I can't wait to continue my new journey. I feel as though I have struggled with my wait for my entire life! I believe the medical talk when they say there is a fat gene! My mom and both my sisters have weight issues. I just didn't want to live this life anymore and I knew that I had to make some drastic changes in my life. A very good friend of mine had lap band surgery. She has lost almost 100 lbs, She has been my motivation! She has been so supportive! It's been so nice having her around to share her knowledge. I am truly lucky and grateful to have her and my wonderful husband and family to support me! Even though I have them I appreciate the information that everyone shares in their blogs! Thank you! I am honored to be a part of this prestigous group! Happy New Year's fellow bandsters!!
