Well Its Sunday. Surgery is at 1045 on Tuesday. I dont have to be there till 915 which is fine by be since Im pretty much still a kid and enjoy sleeping in. Nerves= going crazy, not because of just the surgery but i also have a final exam tomorrow which is very stressful. I kno part of it is because of the surgery because i have always been healthy, just overweight my life. No serious health problems and never been in the hospital other than my nursing clinical rotations for school. So as far as being a patient its going to be a whole new experience for me, which is what is making me the most nervous.

For those who have gotten it done already... Did you bring anything to occupy your time, like puzzles, or books?.. or were you on the move a lot n didn't have the time? Im trying to figure out exactly what to pack in my overnight bag.

As nervous as I am i still an very anxious and excited to start this new chapter of my life, along with my last semester of nursing school.

My goal is by next summer before i turn 23 to meet MY goal weight, the Dr. has it set a bit higher for me because he thinks i would look "sickly" if i weighted what i should for my height. I Have 12 days down of the pre-op diet n when i went out n bought a new scale and weighted myself i couldn't believe i had lost almost 10lbs alreadysuccess1.gif , so I made my mom weigh herself as well and she said it was right for her.

I know a few days ago i wasn't in the best mind frame, that went away and now I honestly can't wait. Dont know if ill post before surgery or not.

Lastly, Just wanted to say thank you for everyone who has helped support me, give me their knowledge and experiences to see, it has helped tremendously in the start of this life long journey. I was concerned that since i am quite young that people may judge me on this decision, but so far i haven't and it gives me hope that no matter what age you are there are people out there willing to help and accept you and your decisions. Thank you, All of you <3 welldoneclap.gifBanane10.gif

I didn't take anything except my iPhone - I could facebook, text & email from that so it was fine. There were people in out out pretty frequently so not a lot of time to do much. Good luck to you and hope to see you on the posts again soon! I was just banded last week so it looks like we'll both be December Bandsters :)

Pack some chap stick, after your surgery you wont be able to drink any water and your mouth gets terribly dry. They will give you some nasty tasting swabs to moisten your mouth and lips but it wasn't enough, at least not for me. I would gargle water and spit it out and it helped. Take some magazines or a cellphone. I stayed at the hospital 2 whole nights and didn't have anything to drink (Dr.'s orders) until 40hrs later. Be mentally prepared for that.

I decided to stand up the same night after my surgery...just so that I could get to know my pain and that helped me recuperate faster. I suggest you try it. Also you might end up with 3-5 sometimes more surgical incisions in your stomach, they will seem like they are 1 foot wide but if you see them they vary between .5 - 1 inch. If you get to know your scars they will be less intimidating and will help you try to get up and move around.

Sleeping at home was a pain, I bought a pillow that had arm rests and that helped me sleep almost upright in a sitting position...be prepared for that.

Besides that the days will fly and you will love LOVE the decision you made. I no longer view food as my friend...HA! I hate food sometimes because of the discomfort it causes when I eat to fast or over eat. You will know what I mean later. It is a fantastic journey and definitively life changing! Also its OK to stray from the pre op or post of diets, at least in my case. I enjoyed a nice moderate breakfast meal the day before my surgery and then a protein shake for dinner. Don't stray too far, keep the consistency soft and mushy or you will regret it after surgery.

I was in the middle of my semester when I had my surgery and I dont regret it a single bit even though it made me fall back on my school work. At any case I am rambling now...keep in touch and good luck!!!

well luckily i get ice chips right after surgery and by dinner im on clear liquids... but i will def have to remember to pack chap stick anyways..

I know for me being 22 and having friends that enjoy going out n drinking most weekends has been a bit rough for me not to, but i have gotten use to it. New years eve should be an adventure cause only two of my close friends know exactly what im having done

I was planning on possibly bringing a puzzle cause lately they have helped pass a lot of my time, and my phone of course!! lol.

I was outpatient...in by 7 out 10:30. Actually has surgery at 9 and left the hospital at 1030. I did found my mouth to be very dry so popped in a piece of gum on the way home which really helped.

good luck...you are going to love your band.
