Still Here I Swear!

It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I was banded. I've lost about 12 lbs. I imagine it isn't going much faster

because I'm not exercising. The reason why is because I've moving and doing all of that this week and last weekend; once I get settled, I have my gym membership back. I plan on going Monday after work.

Second, I'm starving all the time. About every 2 hours while I'm at work. I bring high protein food to work and eat

just about all of it. I drink water--2 of the huge Desani water bottles at least. I still drink milk, but I don't guzzle it.

I'm hoping next time I get on the scale it is going down some more.

Its just been crazy this past month. This month will probably be the same way; Xmas coming, traveling for Xmas, moving and settling, working, etc. I'm sure by New Year's I'll be ready to collapse.

I'm waiting for the movers to get here...they're late. I'm all ready to go. I could have made another run with the stuff I just spent 3 hours loading into my dad's truck...grrr. My dad bought me a new flat screen tv, because I'm giving him my sofa that I don't want/need. That was really sweet of him; he's been so helpful and good to me lately. I am so thankful for him. Growing up we just had no relationship beyond him financially supporting me and occasionally yelling at me to talking every week and him helping me out with daily life things. Its so awesome.

Happy banding folks. I'll be back soon...

12 pounds is really awesome for 3 WEEKS? Or did you mean months? Because technically, exercise isn't recommended until about 4 to 6 weeks from surgery. If you DID mean weeks, it sounds like you are doing pretty good. I imagine the hunger will stop once you start getting fills. Good luck on the move!

continued hunger is a sign that you are not following the protocol correctly. You need to eat bulky foods that fill you up, like cream of wheat and not drink milk or other high calorie low density foods! I have lost 102 pounds in 6 months to my goal weight and have not exercised 1 second, all by following the recommended eating strategy. I ate less than 750 calories per day for 3 months and was never hungry. Eat smart!

Sounds to me like you are doing just fine. The hunger will eventually fade once you start getting fills. I was not sure if I just imagined being hungry of if I really was. But what I did do was to make sure I made healthy choices, making sure I ate (or drank) my protein. I also have stayed away from carbs as much as possible, in that I have not eaten breads, pastas, rice, corn, potatoes. I also limit my fruit intake since it has a lot of natural sugars.

I was never a person who exercised but I have made a conscience effort to be sure that I do...my favorite is riding a bike. If the weather does not permit, then I got to the gym and ride away.

I was able to get my first fill at one month after surgery, and then the dr said I could get one every 2 weeks after that, and that is exactly what I do. To date, I have had 6 fills, for a total of 8.5 cc's in my 14 cc band (the dr put 4.0 cc's in during surgery).

It has only been this week that I can honestly say that my meals satisfy. I am planning on 1 more fill a week from Monday because I still eat what I think are too large of portions. But I definitely am feeling full when I get there.

Just keep reading the rules, make good eating choices, and don't sweat the small stuff. And while I commend mickp24 for his outstanding progress, keep in mind that men lose weight at a faster weight then women (per my dr), and what works for one may not work for another.

YOU STAY STRONG, AND HANG IN THERE. YOU (AND I) can do this thing.

I did mean 3 weeks, and 12 lbs in 3 weeks. About 10 of it came off the first few days. I ate just about nothing, and the rest went right through me.

As for not exercising for "one second" mickp24, I wouldn't brag about that. You know darn good and well thats part of this whole deal!! I understand if you have physical limitations but I don't and I need to get my ass moving. I cannot survive on 750 calories a day. I'm busy at work--I'm a nurse--and I have about 20 other things going on too, so getting the proper nutrition is definetly a need, but not 750 calories. More like 1200. And even that is difficult sometimes. I can't live on cream of wheat for 6 months lol, I don't even like it. For the most part, I do make good choices. But I beat myself up for little things like an extra cup of milk, or an extra few bites of something.

Thanks zil for the encouragement. Its so funny how different doctors tell us different things; my Dr. said to go and exercise as soon as I feel ready, if its 3 days post-op or 3 weeks post-op, but to make it a priority in the day. Or, getting fills at certain intervals--he told me he wouldn't even think of filling me for 6 weeks at least...I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping it curbs the hunger. (I'm not REALLY starving, just experiencing hunger, which always gives me a headache if I don't eat something soon after).

Thanks all for the comments, I do appreciate all of them. Good luck to all of us smile.png
